How were the different genre(jazz, rock, hiphop, rap, etc.) introduced to korea? |
Travel Info I was wondering who influenced Korean pop music the most. What American band influenced Korean music the most? What time were they introduced? I am doing a project and i have to find an influencial band from every decade leading back to 1900 please? I know the seo tai ji boys were one..I think but i need more. Please help. Travel Tips Your assumption that Korea was heavily influenced by the US seems wrong. There is far more influence from Japan and other Asian countries that watered down what was brought in from the US. A lot of Korean music was pretty much stolen from japan because Koreans weren't allowed to buy japanese music and so would never be the wiser. Others Like I said before the ones who would change Korean Music forever ...Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Rap and more were Seo Tai-ji Boys (Korean)! that popularized in 1980s to 1990s bringing whole new evolutionary music that most haven't heard that came from America of course, they have inspired a whole alot of korean artists such as Shinhwa, H.O.T, 1TYM, Fly To The Sky, Baby V.O.X and certainly more in the 1998! that made something big!. Seo Tai-ji Boys show in their music video the different types of dances such as R'n'B dance, breakdance, popping, michael jackson and everything else. That's why Korea are number one at breakdance!maybe popping, They were inspired by them as well . There also should be mention of the rap group Drunken Tiger- they're the ones that brought more real, "hard" rap to Korea. Yeah, Seo Taiji brought rap to Korea in the early 90s, and I have much respect for him, but that was really more on the "pop" side of rap. |
