What are the official starting and ending cross-streets of the 'Las Vegas Strip'? |
Travel Info I know that the 'Las Vegas Strip' is a nickname for Las Vegas Blvd between the 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' sign on the south and somewhere in the vicinity of downtown on the north. Can you tell me the specific cross streets which begin and end the 'Strip?' Travel Tips Here's my fave link for a map of the Strip: http://www.lvcva.com/standard-maps.jsp?w... For perspective, it's about 5 miles from Mandalay Bay on the South end to Stratosphere on the north end. Things are always changing here in Vegas, so there are a couple of things not yet updated on this map: the Aladdin is now Planet Hollywood. The Stardust is now only dust. And the Barbary Coast is now called Bill's Gambling Hall. Other than that, this map is accurate and very useful. p.s. "downtown" is about 2 miles north of the Stratosphere. Source(s): Las Vegas local Other Travel Tips The Strip runs from the Stratosphere at the northern end to Mandalay Bay on the southern end. Of the 4 miles, nearly 3.5 miles of it is located in the township of Paradise, Clark County. Depending on the definition, very little to none of it is within the Las Vegas city limits. McCarran Airport (LAS) is located at the southern end of The Strip, along with the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, which also appears in the median of Las Vegas Boulevard at the north end near the intersection of E. St. Louis and S. Main Street. The "South Strip" is used to describe the section of Las Vegas Boulevard between Sunset Road or Blue Diamond Road and St. Rose Parkway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/las_vegas_s... actually there is no cross street at the sign and the next couple of streets are into specific casinos so it would technically be tropicana to freemont in downtown Tropicana at the south and Oakey to the north The strip is pretty much Sunset Rd. and Las Vegas Blvd. to Sahara and LV Blvd. Downtown is pretty much Charleston to Bonanza, from Main St. to LV Blvd. There are casinos outside the strip, such as Arizona Charlies, Sunset Station, Texas Station, Boulder Station, Sam's Town, The Orleans, and several others. I just drove the the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign yesterday on the way to fry's electronics. I think it's at Russell Rd. and LV Blvd. |
