Moving to Las Vegas. Any Advice?

Travel Info
I am a 23 year old hotel major living in Louisville, Ky. UNLV is the best school in my opinion for the industry. Due to recent personal things, I am moving. I need a change in atmosphere. Just curious where I should live. Id like to live around other people like myself but somewhere close to campus. I can afford up to $900.00 right now. I plan on applying at several hotels once I get there and get on my feet. Also curious what Front Desk agents make at some of the nicer hotels. I worked at The Brown Hotel (Elizabethtown, with Orlando Bloom was filmed there) as the Night Audit Supervisor and 3rd shift manager on duty and made $12.50 an hour, but I would very much not like to work 3rd shift ever again! And last but not least, I have a Mazda RX-8, whats the street racing scene like in Vegas?

Travel Tips
There are some apartment complexes near UNLV that are affordable. You need to look around. rent.com is one place.

You should be able to make in the same ballpark at one of the hotels in town - but don't expect to get hired on the Strip right away. You might want to start at the Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn in Henderson until you're known around town.

Street racing is illegal in Vegas, as far as I know. If you get caught, you might be kissing that car goodbye to the impound lot.

I DUNNO. I honestly can't find place where there's a lot of people like yourself. Maybe refine your question?
Advice for moving to Las Vegas. Just party like there's no tomorrow.
they are very strict when it comes to street racing, people are awake 24/7 all over town so there's usually a lot of traffic still even at night.

front desk here generally starts at about $14 per hour.. i work in room reservations right now and i get paid $12.50..

there's lots and lots of apartments here especially near unlv.. i don't think it would cost you $900.. find a nice room mate! =)
You may want to check craigslist and look for a room to rent from someone around your age. You can do that for six months and meet some other people your age and live in a pretty nice house while you get used to the city.

Do NOT move to the 89109 zip code. I see so many people move there from out of town because the rent price is cheap and it's right next to the Strip, UNLV, shopping, restaurants... but it is dangerous! Especially around the Boulevard Mall/ Sunrise Hospital area.
There's a website called rent.com where you can put in the city you want to live and then you can narrow it by price and by certain areas - UNLV is south. Most of the apartments have virtual tours, plus you get a discount for using that site (LIKE $200)
The street racing scene is big here but very illegal but they do have midnight madness at the speedy way almost every Friday night
