Could you rate the best areas of Las Vegas to live in?

Travel Info
East, West, North or South....?
And why?

Travel Tips
To the best of my knowledge, the west side is best, Summerlin, The Lakes, out that way.
I used to live on Sahara and Rampart. It is
new, clean, and safe. This area was known as The Lakes. East side is least desirable.
Although I suppose they have extended the
east side by now and built new areas.
North side is not very attractive, kind of
busted up and run down. But if you go far enough North, it becomes quite nice. I would focus on
the West side, simply can't go wrong.
Maybe anything west of Rainbow would be a good point of reference. It has been 7 years since i"ve live there.

~In the Valley! It's safer.
Why? are you planning on moving there / visiting?
I live in the Green Valley area of Henderson. It's the Southeast area of the Las Vegas Valley. Housing is a bit pricier than other areas of towns, but it's well worth it. There are tons of beautiful parks, plenty of shopping and great dining. To top it off, it's just minutes from the Strip.

I enjoyed my place in Green Valley (Zip: 89014)

HOWEVER, I would recommend any and all areas of Las Vegas, NM over that of NV.
On the outskirts in most any direction except NE - North Las Vegas (west of I-15, north of Cheyenne), Summerlin, anything north or west of I-215, most of Henderson, and any master planned community - Alliante, Green Valley Ranch, Mountains Edge, etc.

Why? Crime, of course, and shopping/dining options. I'm know there are lots of nice areas within the central Valley but they're hard to specify and they're surrounded by higher crime areas.

There are no specific compass points to identify as "good", but I'd say that NE tends towards older houses and higher crime - that includes Northtown, the part of North Las Vegas that they don't like to admit is still there. Central, of course, is the worst. Never go out at night into the areas near the Stratosphere - I don't even want to go there in the daytime, but that's mainly because of the smell.
east Henderson.
