Hotel Question, I'm sure you've seen it?

Travel Info
Ok, so here is a question I've seen on here before but mine has a twist. If I book a hotel room in Vegas for 2 or 3 people and another person decides to come with us at the last minute that the hotel doesn't know about, will we get in trouble/caught or will the hotel care? The twist is, could we just tell the hotel we have an extra person and pay the difference when we arrive (booking online and not through the hotel)?

Travel Tips
If one person is a solid "maybe" at the time of booking, I always recommend waiting to pay for that person til check-in. It is less trouble in the long run to do it that way than to pay in advance and have a refund processed if the person can't make it. (FYI a refund processed to a credit or debit card doesn't result in those funds being immediately available. It always takes at least a few days to clear.) If you choose to keep it secret, the hotel may or may not find out. If you "get caught", they will simply charge the extra person per night charge plus tax to your credit card on file. its Las Vegas...do waht you can get away with..they wont put you in jail
First of all, unless you request an extra key, the hotel probably wont know this person is even there. Second, if they do figure it out, they will probably just charge you the fee if they do anything at all.
They wont know, and what can they do. I do that frequently book for two people but have 4 in the room, its cheaper and I have never had a problem. Don't tell them anything, just book for two and request 2 double beds. You only need one person to check in, the rest can wait off to the side.
I agree with ctelly22, one extra person won't make a difference. The hotel police is not going to come around to check every room for the number of people registered there. I do it all of the time, in fact i will have to do the same this weekend. Booked a room for 4 but we have 5. Only if you have an excessive amount of people booked in a room fit for 4 you may have a problem. But if you stay low key and have one person check in one extra person in your room will be fine. Just check the hotel to see if they charge any extra fees for additional guests above double occupancy like the Monte Carlo. If that 's the case then definately stay low key. If not than don't worry, you'll be fine.
When you are booking the room for 2, room rates are based on double occ. So if another person is coming with you like a 3rd or 4th person, and you requested 2 beds to begin with but didn't disclose to the hotel that more people were coming in, the hotel could just put you into a room with 1 bed, because someone else booked with 3 or more ppl. and they do not have any more rooms avail with 2 beds. One of the other reasons would be a fire hazard, they would have a record of who is in what room if there was a fire in the hotel and could have a head count. In order to just about guarantee bed type and not going through any type of hassle with the hotel "catching" you with a extra person in the room. Just pay the extra fee. Also if you and your guests were planning on all going to the pool, usually everyone would require a room key. This has been my experience in the hotel and travel industry.
