About traveling from bay area,CA to Las Vegas,NV?

Travel Info
Hi:
I am planning to travel to Las Vegas around this Christmas, and I am struggling between driving or flying because I plan to leave from hom on 12/17/07; however, on 12/24-26 I also want to go to L.A. to disneyland, so I am struggling that should I fly or drive?(2 adults) Each way has its own advantages and disadvantages so I do not know how to choose from.

Thanks for answer my question.

Travel Tips
Choice 1 - Flying: If flying to vegas, which I recommend, you would fly from the bay area (out of Oakland or San Jose b/c they are much cheaper and more frequent) and be able to land in vegas and start having fun immediately. If you drove, you would be a little tired and might come in at an awkward time, whereby wasting a part of the day (in the end you would recoup most of the flight cost just by being able to enjoy another day or not have to spend an extra night just to recover from the 9 hour drive from the Bay Area). Then you would want to fly in to John Wayne Airport in Orange county, which is by far the closest airport to Disneyland. They have shuttles available on site, but you can usually find deals where you can arrange a shuttle for cheaper.

Choice 2 - Driving: The advantage of driving is that you have the freedom to amend the time you want to spend in Vegas or LA/Disneyland as you wish and on the fly. If you enjoy Vegas more you can stay longer, if you hit a horrendous streak and are almost broke, you can leave earlier and head for Tomorrowland at Disneyland. Plus you would be saving a decent amount of money, not only because of the flight, but b/c you wouldnt need to take a cab everywhere in vegas (though I recommend the bus if you arent going too far so you dont have to deal with the traffic on the STRIP).

Either way, it sounds like a good trip and you're in for a lot of fun. Just decide based on how tired you'd be, how willing are you to drive the 6 hours BACK from LA if you do drive. Remember, driving there is easy (with the anticipation and excitement) but driving back, especially after partying and staying up late in vegas and walking around disneyland may leave you very tired on the road. Plus Highway 5 has turned into somewhat of a speed trap as the small counties between LA and the Bay Area are cashing in on the speeding ways of the metropolises. Good luck, drive or fly safe and have fun. Hope this helps.

I've done that drive to Las Vegas and Disneyland. I'd fly. Driving, especially during this time is going to be busy. No matter what route you pick, it;ll be busy but flights from the Bay Area to Las Vegas are frequent. Likewise, you have alot of options to fly from Vegas to Orange County (that'd be my first choice) or LAX.

Your way ahead by planning now.

Good Luck and have fun.
I think it depends on what you exactly plan on doing. Flying is becoming more and more expensive. You may want to look into flying to Vegas then renting a car and driving to Disneyland. I think it also depends on how long your entire trip is going to be. And are you going back to Vegas after Disneyland, or going back home? Depending on the airline you book, some trips might be more expensive if you fly SFO/OAK/SJC to Vegas, then back home from Southern California. You may also want to look into an airline's vacation deparment (Southwest Vacations, for example) to see what they might be able to come up with.

Hope this helps!
