What is the best way to travel to Vegas from the LA area?? |
Travel Info ok... i live in the Inland Empire and id like to know if any one knows what the best and cheapest way to travel to vegas is..... would it be cheaper to rent a car and drive up there or would it be better to fly out from Ontario Airport???any tips??? thanks Travel Tips If you flew, would you rent a car in Las Vegas? If so, then it will probably cost less to rent the car locally and drive to Vegas. Figure about $40-50 per day or $250 per week (5-7 days) plus gas. But if you don't need or want a car in Vegas, you can get a flight to Vegas for around $125 to $160 with an advanced purchase fare. But also consider the lower car rental rates in Vegas: $30-40 per day, $170-200 per week. So here' my back-of-the-envelope analysis: -If you're only staying 2 nights in Vegas, rent a car and drive. -If 3 or 4 nights, fly only if you won't be renting a car in Vegas, otherwise drive. -If 5 nights, too close to call -If 6-7 nights, fly regardless. Source(s): http://www.travelocity.com/ Other Travel Tips I wouldn't drive to Vegas on Friday or back on Sunday night for all the tea in China... If you like stop and go traffic for 200 miles though. go for it... It may be cheeper to drive a rental car, depending on what days you fly and how long you are going to stay. The longer the stay the more the car is going to cost. Go to a site like Orbitz.com. They have air fare and rental car info and prices.. They also have a section for specials, you may find a cheep flight package.. I travel there often, my suggestion would be to rent a car from Avis I found there prices really good and there cars are great. If you can, leave early in the morning before 12:00pm and when you return if you can, come home on a Monday morning leave around 9:00 am. I have gone to Vegas many tomes and had a great time, but the ride home on a Sunday ruined the trip. Have Fun I don't know the rental rates or flight costs so I can't actually answer that one, but beware of the traffic times - you don't want to be heading into Vegas on a Friday or leaving on a Sunday. We live here and drive to LA frequently on weekends... and we pass the most godawful long lines of parked cars trying to go the other way. What takes us 4 hours to drive takes them 10 or more. So, keep that in mind when you're choosing which choice to make. I think it's quicker, and easier to fly. It depends on what your doing in Vegas. If your staying on the strip, and not venturing elsewhere... flying is fine, quick, and easy, and you don't waste all the time in the car, when you could be enjoying sin city... if you have other places off the strip you want to check-out... Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, Green Valley Ranch... etc. then obviously renting a car is the way to go.... Either way, enjoy....I LOVE living here!! |
