Las Vegas-Best Hotel for your money?

Travel Info
Trying to help my folks out with planning their first trip to Sin City...(stop laughing). Any good ideas for the best hotel, mid strip, for the money? Not looking to leave there high rollers or anything, just a nice room in a good spot.

Travel Tips
As you can see, if you ask 20 people you will get 20 different answers. My opinions:

Best value for the buck would be Treasure Island. It is moderately priced, the rooms are nice, it is located in the central Strip, there is a tram that connects to the Mirage and they have a nice pool.

Personally, I feel very comfortable at the Mirage, although I have never stayed at the hotel.

Good luck!

The best thing to do is stay in a resort. There are a lot of time shares there in Las Vegas. You can get a whole week's stay for around 200-300 dollars. The only thing is you will have to listen to a presentation for about 2 hours. You don't have to buy from them, so this is a great way to stay in a Resort instead of a hotel room. The resorts have a full size kitchen, living room, washer and dryers in them, and more.

I own 2 time shares there in Las Vegas. I travel there twice a year and I just love it there. I can give you a number to call if you would like. Email me if you want more details on this. I don't sell these time shares if you are wondering. I own with Wyndham Resorts and Westgate Resorts. I really like Wyndham more than I do the Westgate, but that is just my opinion.
You can check for hotels off the strip as well. Most of them have shuttles to take you there for free. We stayed at Courtyard Marriott ($79). There are cheaper ones.... try mobissimo.com

The Emperial Palace on the strip and a cheaper one. It is not a good place to gamble or see shows, but it has a great location and lots of rooms. It is right next to the Flamingo. Most hotels offer a better rate for Sunday through Thursday. The Emperial Palace almost always has an advertised deal going. Tell them you want the deal. If they ask which one, say you saw it advertised in the San Diego newspaper.
try somethign downtown
Bally's is on the Strip and has pretty good rates. I'm staying there in August and my rate is $104/nite. Hotwire is a good place to get a good discount rate as well.
