Travel Info I realise this appears to be a gross generalisation, but is there a kernel of truth to this stereotype? As a casual observer of this I find this generalisation to be true. Am I correct. I know years a go there was a religious conectation to who supported which team, probably explaining this observation. Afterall, it has been said that a good proportion of the descendents of Irish Catholic immigrants tended to move northward from Scotland Road as years and generations passed on, while native English Protestants prefered the southern suburbs.

My mother was born in Haig Row which was just off Scotland Road in Everton, so being a toffee she, and her siblings, supported Everton as opposed to Liverpool simply because they were from Everton. My uncle now lives in Runcorn and he and his sons, who live in Swindon, still support Everton, whilst his daughter supports Liverpool. Both Catholics and Protestants live in Everton and both supported Everton, whilst others supported Liverpool...it's just a matter of personal choice really.
For myself, who was born in Bath...I prefer rugby! |
