Beatles tour? |
Travel Info we want to find a campsite near to the beatles tour in liverpool but we don't want a tour we want to go round by ourselves. is this possible? Travel Tips There is a caravan site not far from the junction of M57 and M62 which is not too far outside Liverpool, Usually they will allow tents to be pitched on their sites. Sorry I have only ever seen it from the motorway, so I don't know its name. The nearest camp site is in Melling by Maghull which is not too far outside the city, with good rail and bus connections. A better option if you are looking for cheap accommodation might be the Youth Hostel Association (YHA) which has a modern hostel right opposite the Albert Dock. They are very cheap and not at all like a hotel. Of course you can do the tour yourself, most of the places to see are in the south of the city or in the city centre, and are well served by public transport. Just find the places you want to see then go onto mersytravel and plan your journeys and buy a zone ticket which allows unlimited travel for a fixed price. Many tourists hire taxi's to do the tour independently, but this would be more expensive. Source(s): http://www.touristnetuk.com/nw/merseysid... http://www.travelstay.com/pages/yhaliver... Other Travel Tips Yes you can esaily do a Beatles tour on your own - just get a map or guide book and walk around. I suspect you wont find a campsite in Liverpool but maybe in the wider Merseyside area - somewhere like Southport or the Wirral. I imagine the Liverpool tourism website will have details - http://www.visitliverpool.com Many Beatles views / ex homes,Penny Lane, etc are in south liverpool-I doubt if there is a camp site-a local fan may let you camp on their lawn,or home, you may get a response through putting a request on this site,or a Beatles fan club .The Beatles Story at the Albert dock may have some ideas if you telephone them. hiya i am from liverpool you could do the beatles tour on your own. I dont no if it would be better to go on the tour though as they will take you directly were u need to go and there is all differant areas involved are you with anyone from liverpool who will no directions ect Off the top of head i dont no any campsites you would proberly have to check that one out. Hope you have a lovely time and hope our lovely city makes you feel very welcome x there is a camp site in formby and woodvale, which are 30mins from the beatles tour. not sure if they are open to public or if it is private own. also, not sure if you specifically want a camp site, but there is a cheap travel-lodge (or it might be a travel inn?) literally right next to the tour. it is cheap if u book in advance. as from the above answers, you can easily do the tour alone. i would also recommend that you see other parts of liverpool that might be specific to beatles history, and not just the tour. for example, have a wander down matthew street and have a drink in the cavern club. theres also the old guitar shop where they bought their original instruments, and their houses from where they grew up etc...enjoy! The Beatles tour bus takes quite a while and goes all over the place, some of which you would need to get buses out to and walk some more. so you are best going on the ride, and getting off at various places. Camping? Are you going to be in a car? There are camp sites around Formby and Southport, or you could stay in Pontins which is a 20 min train ride from Liverpool. |
