Travel Info How to spend a whole saturday in london? taking plane out in evening? Travel Tips Get an all-day pass that goes for both The Underground, Rail and Bus. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/faresandti... There are hop-on, hop-off bus tours, with open-roof double-decker buses. They cost around five pounds last time I used one. Take at least one round trip with it, then get off at whatever point took your interest. http://london-tour.conciergedesk.co.uk/b... Have a look at Big Ben. The Houses of Parliament, if there is no long queue, can be entered free, but they check your bag. Museums, except for the Victoria and Albert, and the Tate Gallery, are free. Walk around Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus. The Sculpture of Eros shooting an arrow (Old English colloquial term for it was "burying a shaft") is in memory of the Lord Shaftesbury, who worked really hard in the British Parliament to stop child labour some 200 years ago. Back then, 5-year-olds were used as chimney-sweeps, and worked in coal mines. Like seeing wax replicas of dead historical figures? Or living popular ones? Try Madame Tussaud's http://www.madame-tussauds.co.uk/... As for Nightlife, well... http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/clubbing/... Or you can catch a musical! Or play! http://www.londontheatre.co.uk/... In any case, be careful with yourself, don't walk alone in dark places, if you do, do so confidently and alertly. Enjoy your time! Source(s): http://www.visitlondon.com/choose_site/?... Other Travel Tips I'd say take a cab tour all over town - ask the cab driver to give you a scenic route and to drop you off at a fish-and-chips restaurant midway, and then pick you back up. Depends on the airport you are flying in and out of. We have done a quick trip downtown from Stanstead airport into London, but you need to give yourself plenty of time to get back to the airport. Go to Big Ben and Leicester Square, stop off at Buckingham Palace for a minute and eat some Indian food. Travel by the underground, but mind the gap! Definitely Hyde Park! You can stroll around, get a picnic (Absolutely FAB food at the restaurants), sit under a tree or at a table and just...... Relax. You can also go on the Serpentine on a Pedalo and you're right near the Centre of London! Hope you have a nice day! A really nice hot day a couple of weeks ago with my family! I've also lived in London since 1994! |
