Where shall I go today? |
Travel Info I live in central London and I have a week off work. The weather is looking grey but not raining. I have to be back in the evenings - I cannot stay somewhere overnight. Money is not a massive issue. I don't have a car so it will need to be public transport. I've lived in London for eight years now so I have already been to all the usual tourist places like the Zoo and Westminster Abbey. But since I'm not actually local to the area I'm lacking knowledge about places to go that are outside London but still "nearby" in the greater scheme of things. Travel-wise I've been to Beachy Head and Dover Castle recently, both of which I enjoyed. I've also "done" Brighton a couple of times. I like walking, woodlands/countryside, historical stuff (castles, old town centres), that kind of thing. Any ideas for days/mornings/afternoons out that I might like? Travel Tips HI, Go to Warwick and visit a Warwick castle - It is a great day out! Others Have you been to Windsor? Have you tried Rye in East Sussex? Beautiful place, as is the strange delight of nearby Dungeness. How about the old bailey? Its very interesting seeing some of the court cases. But if you go you cant take cameras or phones but it is good! How about the waxworks, thats always good for a giggle... Go to Portsmouth, very do able on the train, you could vist the Dockyard, ther are many things in there to see.also along the seafront, you could get the hovercraft to Isle Of Wight.Or go to North End, visit Charles Dickens house, whatever you do hope you have a nice time. Go to Paddington and you get a train to Oxford for about 20 quid. There are two fast trains per hour which take 1 hour. Don't get on the slow stopping service though, it's very frustrating! |
