Are there any females who have gone to London alone and felt ok? |
Travel Info I'm 23 yr Aussie girl and haveben to london before but had friends htere then , i'm thinking about going back alone and just wondering if anyone else has, if you felt safe adn was it hard to meet people? Travel Tips Nonsense, it's totally safe unless you go out of your way to find somewhere dangerous (like a dark alley at night) and there's no reason you shouldn't go. London is chock full of Aussies - there's a chain of bars called Walkabout for a start, where you'll find half of Australia holidaying. But if you don't want to meet Aussies there is every other nationality under the sun in London too. Just go and have a great time. The weather's fantastic right now! Others Is this something you should do when you are having mental health problems? Are you thinking clearly and know really why you want to go back when your friends are not there? No place on this planet is safe anymore so you always have to use common sense. If you make friends easily you should be able to make friends in Paris, or at least connect on a superficial level. I moved to London on my own (from Scotland) and never had any problems. If you are going to be studying, or working it will be easy to find friends...or also if you are going to be living in a shared house. I think more people should move to London alone as most of the Ausiies I know in London are friends mainly with a big group of Aussies - its a bit strange to me, why bother moving across the world to be friends with people from the same place as you!! I lived in London for 3 months while studying and never once did I feel unsafe. I loved walking around the city and exploring new areas, traveling on the underground, and sightseeing and never had a bad experience. I wouldn't go out at night to a club by myself, but I wouldn't do that anywhere in the world. Come on Kangaroo, get yourself on a plane! Yeah London's full of Australians, and everything else. Come and join us. Just make sure you have enough for the apartment.......... I've been visiting London on my own since I was 16 (I'm 25 now) and I have not once had anything bad happen. I've had beggars approach me in train stations (one of them turned out to be a thief who would ask people for something, and if they put their bags down to look through their pockets, he'd steal their bags). I politely tell the beggars no, and they go away. I'm a small, thin girl, so it's not like I scared them away either. London in my opinion is no better or worse than any other city. Be firm, but polite if someone hassles you, and you'll be fine. I've walked back to my hotel after midnight and never been harmed - on busy nights there is usually a police presence, the streets are well lit, and most people are nice people, so it's fine. I have been fine and got to see loads of stuff without the hassle of fitting in with others. I am sure you will be fine. |
