DoubleRoom London Zone 2-3 for July07? |
Travel Info Hello we are a 2-female couple relocating to London in the beginning of July. Looking for a double bedroom, IDEALLY (but we are realistic, so don't roll ur eyes!): in zone 2, sunny, with a soul (no like drab indentity-less places), in flat with no more than 2 rooms, roomates are :non-smokers, no pets, young professionals who respect that weekdays are not for partying till dawn ;) We are 25 & 24. Budget: 鈧?00 -鈧?75 pw, for the couple, bills+ Council tax incl. :) Thank you for any help...tip on location...on cheap plans...Etc.! Cheeeers! :) Travel Tips You should be able to do it fairly easily if you go for a flatshare, although what you get for your money will vary according to area. If you pick somewhere that is a bit further away from the underground you will get more. South London wise: I would recommend somewhere like Camberwell. Its funky, arty (due to art college and several galleries), studenty (art college and med stuidents at hospital), several good bars and restaurants etc and still a bit edgy (hasnt been overtaken by dull corporate couples who only worry about house prices). Transport wise its well connected with trains at Denmark Hill station and buses into central London in 15-20 minutes and on the West side its only 10-15 minutes walk from Brixton, Oval or Elephant and Castle tube. (I live in Camberwell and think its great!) Other places to look at in South London are Streatham (good range of shops and restaurants, maybe a bit far out of central London but you get more for your money) Brixton (good tranport links, trendy, can be a bit edgy) Stockwell (good transport, not much community - close to Clapham, Brixton etc) Clapham (good transport, good restaurants/pubs, can feel a bit dull, expensive, can feel full of corporate lawyer and banker types with lots of money) Balham (good transport, bit far out, can feel a bit suburban) Vauxhall/ Kennington (good transport - zone 1, nice pubs and restaurants, can feel a bit like place that is passed through rather than destination) Peckham (good houses, good location, can feel a bit too edgy and on the edge) Tooting (bigger houses, tube, good shops and restaurants, but can feel long way out of centre) These are thoughts that came to me off the top of my head, obviously there are good places also in North, East and West London (and other bits of South London) but these are places that I know best. If you're looking for a flatshare its worth looking at adverts in Loot - www.loot.co.uk or Gumtree www.gumtree.com. Its probably best to start looking now so that you can rule out areas you definitely cant afford You may be able to get your own flat for around 拢175-200 a week if you shop around so look at places like www.rightmove.co.uk or www.findaproperty.co.uk for flat rentals. Source(s): Have lived in South London for 10 years in most of the places I have recommended - now in Camberwell Other Travel Tips 拢175pw, zone 2-3......good luck!! I used to live in London, and moved out because it was too expensive. If you are thinking of moving, maybe you should take a trip up there, or get a friend to mail you the free advertising papers. The Loot is a good place where londoners advertise rooms to let. Gumtree.com It won't be easy on your budget. Your budget won't get you a lot in London but it has got you some: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/action/public... Rightmove If you go to google and search budget apartments, serviced apartments , low cost apartments, discount apartments in London. You will find lots of good websites providing low cost apartments with superb services. Earlier when I went to London, I stayed in Somerset Apartments Bayswater London. I have booked my apartment through http://www.apartotels.com. They have lots of other apartments also. Best of Luck and enjoy your stay in london. |
