Shared bathroom between 10 people... will it be communal?

Travel Info
I'm gonna be staying in a cheap hostel in London, and I want to make sure to bring my cozzie!

Travel Tips
If you mean will both boys and girls be using it, then the answer is most likely yes. In most of the hostels I've stayed in, the bathrooms have been for both boys and girls -- although occasionally I've found that some of the toilet stalls WITHIN the bathroom were especially designated for men and some for women (although, actually, most people didn't really pay attention to this, now that I think about it!)

If you're asking, however, whether the showers are going to be open-plan, then I'd very much doubt that. Of course, not knowing which hostel you're staying at, I can't say for sure, but I'd be surprised if they were: again, most hostels I've stayed in have had separate shower cubicles, with curtains or doors to seal them off. Yes, you might have someone of the opposite sex showering next to you, but there'll be a wall or a curtain or a divider of some sort separating you from him/her, so that you can shower in the buff -- ie: no swimming costume required! -- without worry. One tip: I've found, at least if you're staying in a mixed-sex dorm, that it's easier to bring your clothes into the shower with you, and change in your stall after you dry off. That way, you don't have to walk back to your room in your towel, or worry about who might be in there when you want to change. You might also want to bring or buy some cheap flip-flops for walking to and from the bathroom (and wearing when you shower as well.)

Of course, you might as well bring your swimming costume if it makes you more comfortable to have the option -- that way, when you get to the hostel and see what the showering arrangements are like, you can decide what you want to do. But like I said, I highly doubt that the showers would be open-plan and that you wouldn't have your own private space, even if it was only designated by a shower curtain.

Hope this helps -- have a great time in London! Source(s): I'm an editor with Travelocity, a former London resident, and have been a guest in many, many hostels!
Other Travel Tips
Forget it unless you want all the diseases like aids, herpes and what not! London is full of TB and other third world crap!
I expect so but you will be able to lock the door when you are in there!!! Sounds grim to me
should still be able to have a bath or shower in private but make sure to take your own soap and towel.........and something to put on before you leave the bathroom!!!!!
rather you than me, make sure you take some disinfectant to go around the loo, sink, bath and shower not forgetting the door handle, light switch and loo flush.

or to be safe

dont go to the loo or wash, use the pool if your taking your cozzie...... lol
why worry about someone seeing you naked - its no big deal

I imagine it will be fine - its in evryone's own self interest to keep the bathroom as clean as possible
