Clapham SW4. Is it a good Neighbourhood to move in?

Travel Info
We will be moving to London soon and wanted some help about trendy, artsy, fun areas to live.

Someone is offering us a flat to rent 5 minutes away from Clapham North tube stop. Is it a nice location? are there shops, restaurants, supermarkets, pubs, etc in the area, what kind of people live there? is it safe and how far is it to the center?

Can you recommend other trendy neighborhoods on the SE area. My husband will be working in Rochester, Kent so we need help to decide!

Travel Tips
I lived in Clapham, near the Common about 15 years ago. I also lived in Kennington, which was closer to the city on the Northern line. I would recommend anything near Clapham Common as a great place to live in London if you work in the city. A lot of where you live in London, depends on the commuting route into where you work.

I would move closer to Kent than Clapham if I was working in Kent. However, there is a major train station at Clapham Junction which is useful.

I really only visited Blackheath, Epsom, Ealing, Hammersmith, Kensington, and Chigwell while I was in London. Living in London for me has a lot to do with how close you are to where you work. Commuting is a nightmare which I really have no desire for.

I just had a look at a website renting properties in Clapham Common. The one bedroom, furnished, ground floor studio flat which I rented is actually being advertised. It is now on the market at 2x the monthly rent I paid 15 years ago. Quite how property prices can have gone up by so much with rental prices remaining stagnant is beyond me. One would assume that the property could only be worth 2x it's price in 1992. It is on the market for 拢750pcm which seems reasonable for London. Source(s): http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/1106...

I am looking for a flat in Clapam as well, today we went there to see the area, I didn't like the northern part, whereas Clapham Common and Clapham South seem nice to live in, so if I were you I would also look at those places as well, have a look at the website:

There are a lot of flats and it gives you a list of the agencies around the areas, good luck with your search, who knows, we may be neighbours soon:))) lol...
