Um, Kensington? Just a thought!

Take the tube to High Street Kensington, turn right when you come out of the station, Kensington Palace is in the park (Kensington Gardens, oddly enough) at the top of Kensington High Street.

It's actually in Kensington! Kensington is a wealthy area of London; it's also quite close to Knightsbridge and the big Museums.
