Where can I find British pence and pounds in coins for my kids to practice with before we go to London? |
Travel Info We are going to London in two weeks and I have been searching for British Pence and pounds in coin form for the kids to practice with so they get used to the coins. The bank exchanged us paper money but I have searched banks, coin dealers, Wells Fargo and a few other places and have been unable to get any pounds or pence (not Euro's, London will not use the Euro, Just pounds and pence) in coin form for them to practice with. Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you. Travel Tips Although I am in the United States, I have English coins at home, leftover from my last trip. I would be willing to send some to you; just email me. Others Hmmm. Usually money exchange places only trade in notes. I don't know. I'm sorry. lol practice? ok weird.... theres one P we call it, not 'pence' two P, 5P, 10P, 20P, 50P, 1拢, 2拢 hehe have a nice trip, p.s dont make any cup of tea jokes with english ppl, they get pissed off What about Atlantic City casinos, I know they exchange foreign money, and I heard for a better rate than banks. I don't know where you are located so that is a suggestion. If you are not near AC what about other casinos, Vegas, Connecticut, etc. I can't tell you where you can get some of our real coins whilst you are still in the States, but if you take a look at this site it shows you what our coins are like and describes them fully....It's the site for the Woodlands School in Kent..it is an award winning site and has some really useful information about all things British if you care to explore it once you have had a look at the coins.... http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/... Have a safe journey and enjoy your time in our country! EDIT btw the 5p piece is ridiculously small... A good place to try would be at your closest international airport. There are foreign exchange counters at every one I have ever been to. Perhaps they would have coins, as well. You should probably phone first to be sure. Why practice. The coins work like dollars and cents, it's just that they are worth twice as much. The old, exotic system went in the 1960s. |
