What are some good places to shop in London? |
Travel Info Ok, well I'm going to London at the end of August and I really want to do some shopping. I've heard Carnaby street is amazing. Any other places I should check out? Travel Tips Oxford Street and Kensington High Street also Knightsbridge will provide you with all you could ever want and need. But also look at the various, local street markets. Yes to Carnaby street. It was THE trendiest spot to shop at back in the 60's, then fell into a tacky hovel in the 70's and 80's. But Carnaby Street is now coming back to life as a trendy spot once more. Portobello Road, Camden and Notting Hill are also worth a serious browse. And Don't forget the BIG dept stores, Harrods, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols. For food gifts, you can't go wrong with anything from Fortnum and Mason or Harrods amazing Food Halls. And good basic items can be found at any Marks and Spencer store. The larger branches of Boots should not be overlooked, either, they are so much more than just a chemist's shop! I lived in London, and can tell you, that shopping is amazing there! Get yourself a copy of the guide, Born to Shop London. You won't be sorry. Also a copy of MapEasy London, will really help you get a feel for the city like no other map or guide book can, it is updated every year and can be found at Borders. Have a great journey! Others High Street Kensington & Notting Hill are quite informal Camden Market, Portobello Market are good for Vintage stuff Bond Street, Oxford Street are your typical high street stuff and your designer stores Lived in London a LONG time! Harrods I've been there many times, But make sure you wear something propper, other wise they won't let ya in Traveller oxford street is good. the huuge topshop is just amazing haha. ooh and u must check out miss selfridges which has a topshop inside but its not as big as the other one, has loads of different shops inside. yea so i would deffo recommend oxford street. Don't walk...Run to Carnaby street. It is AMAZING!!!!! London is a bit on the expensive side. Especially Carnaby street because thats were all the designer shops are and regular shops.
