Living in Canada trying to track down family in Farncombe(England) 40 miles south of London...How???? |
Travel Info My mothers maiden name was Smith her family was living in Farncombe 40 miles south of London near guilford in England, anyone knowing Bert, Les,Vera,or Stan Smith or cousins, Vincent, Margaret, etc...living there in 1965 and around that please let their neice Nancy know or .....can anyone tell me how to track them down..?????????? Travel Tips There are 9 guys called Vincent Smith living in Surrey, none in Farncombe or Guildford. I picked on him to look for because it was a less usual name - Smith is the most common name in UK, followed by Williams. Just had another quick look at the Electoral Roll (about 3 years out of date) and there is a Vera in Guildford, so you may be lucky on a phone search - sorry, I can't publish the address I have on this site. If you had a second initial it would narrow the field of search. You could try www.192.com or BT.com to see if Vincent or Vera have a listed phone number. Another possibility is to write to the Readers' Letters Column of the local newspaper and ask if anyone knows your family. Others Well, I recently saw some books written on those family trees..you can try buy one of them ..I am sure it has good advice in them! Or some website for schools...that is if you know what school they went to. Try council election lists If you know their names and are willing to pay a small fee you can do an online search of the British Electoral Register.
