Is Groceries in London Expensive? |
Travel Info I will be going on my first trip to London from the US and I would like to know if groceries in London is expensive in comparison to the US. Travel Tips Well I thought overall your food shop's are cheaper but as I exchanged me money from pounds to dollars I also had more money but the weird thing I noticed in USA is when you have brought food they add this tax on it so it isn't the price they have said it is? so I think there isn't much difference for groceries but London can be expensive. Others Umm...that should be "Are " groceries in London expensive, not "is". Anyway, the answer is that it depends where you buy them from. Most shops in central London can be pretty expensive, because the overheads of the shops are higher. But standard supermarkets further out from the the centre are generally cheaper. On the whole, you should find grocery prices fairly similar to the US for most goods. Asda and Tesco are similar to Walmart, and are the cheapest place to buy groceries. As an example, you will pay about 50p for a small bar of chocolate (~50g) |
