Near Los Angeles or Orange County, what are the best beaches to go to with kids? |
Travel Info I was told that Laguna is nice for the pools that form on the beach and the starfish and so forth. Another person told me that Malibu is way better. What beaches are best??? Alternately are we better off going down to San Diego? Travel Tips Newport beach Others Try Dana Point, Doheny state park nearby. Good surf and things to do. Been there and love it. Mission Beach/Bay. They have a roller coaster on the board walk and other fun activities! With kids, I would recommend Santa Monica (because of the Pier), Balboa (by the pier, and you can walk to the Fun Zone), Laguna (for the tide pools), or Carpinteria (best tidepools anywhere, as long as you're willing to drive a couple hours). Carp also has camping at the beach, a very cool beach town, and an old fashioned candy store that the kids love, and a Foster's Freeze. There are four beaches in a row down here in central OC that are great for kids: 1. Balboa - for the reasons someone else gave - classic beach, fun zone etc. 2. Corona del Mar - Big Corona is protected, fewer waves, more of a local crowd (if you include the weekend immigrants from the Inland Empire as 'local'). Good tidepool action down at Little Corona (around the corner from Big) 3. Crystal Cove - amazing long gorgeous beach with everything including an onsite restaurant that serves decent food (but there is no reservations). Only downside here is the long walk from the parking lot. 4. Laguna Beach - another classic, right in town. Only downside here is finding a place to park! |
