How long does it take to drive from santa monica to LA? |
Travel Info The title says it all Lol :) And like no traffic, but traffic lights etc, if you get what I mean. No traffic? in LA? lol I live on the Southeast side of LA, not in LA proper, but if I travel when there's no traffic, I get here in about 15-20 minutes. The 10 is known for its traffic congestion at peak times which are basically anything from 7am to 10am and 12- 2pm and 4-7pm, so if you travel at those times expect delays. Also, there's always a bit of a crunch where the 10 and the 110 intersect, so watch out for that :) Good luck! You can get from the Santa Monica Pier to downtown L.A. entirely by freeway, taking the 10 east to the 110 north. Mid-day, in light-moderate traffic, the freeway run will take you about 25 minutes. Depending on how far away from the 10 you're starting point is, add 5 minutes to get to the Freeway. If you're in the east side of Santa Monica, it may be quicker to hop on the 405 to the 10. The 110 goes through downtown, and from the freeway you can get to *most* anywhere in 5 minutes. But there are a few spots where the one-way streets can add another 5 minutes of looping around to get to you destination. Finally, parking can be a challenge. Unless your destination has it's own parking, add another 10 minutes to park. In total, door to door can be as quick as 30 minutes, or as long as an hour, depending on you actual starting/ending points. Sometimes the 10 backs up for no apparent reason. So if this is a "can't be late" job interview or something, I'd add 15 minutes to the estimated time, just to be sure I was sitting in their office 5 mins before the appointment time. I live here :-) Where in Santa Monica and where in LA? Santa Monica borders West LA and then you can get to LA in less than five minutes. The city of Santa Monica is in L.A. County but surrounded by the city of Los Angeles on 3 sides and the Pacific Ocean on the 4th side, so the answer is almost no time at all...... |
