Saxophone or trumpet?

Travel Info
I wanna play one of these, but which is easier? I'm 12, and would be a beginner. Oh, and where could i get one? I live in Los Angeles, and maybe take lessons? THANKS A LOT!! If you can answer all 3 questions!

So... it depends on what kind of music you are more into, I think. They both have their 'easy' parts and their 'hard' parts to learn - they are just different.
if you want to play jazz, go for the sax
If you want to play in the marching band (per your namesakes), I'd go for the trumpet
If you want to play symphonic, keep in mind that sax players normally also learn to play the rest of the woodwinds (clarinet, flute etc.) so you may get more breadth over time.
My own experience is that sax players tend to be more mellow and artsy than trumpet players - trumpet players tend to be more showy - (but don't hold me to this - I may have a unique experience).

If you don't find anyplace closer there is a GREAT instrumental music store in Anaheim (Anaheim Band) - they have starter instruments all the way to professional quality, and they sell very good quality used instruments. You can also rent for a period of time to see if you really like the instrument. I got my son a used Selmer Tenor Sax there the other day for an amazingly good price.

With regard to lessons - is there a music teacher at your school? Frequently they do private and semi-private lessons off hours and during the summer vacation (because they don't make enough money just teaching). My son's school band teacher is teaching sax lessons this summer two days a week (unfortunately too far for you; lessons will be in Costa Mesa). But you should be able to find something similar up where you are - try the local private school if your public school doesn't have a music program (most don't now, I guess). As an alternate, ask at the instrument store.

If you just can't find an instrument store locally, there are now band instrument sites on the web where you can rent equipment.

I love the sound of a saxophone it is not the easiest thow. But as far as the other two check the yahoo yellow pages. Look for music instuction and instruments. There many places where you are to get them.
love the saxaphone i dont play but my friend does my friend says its easy you could get a saxaphone or trumpet at dietz music store but go with what your heart tells you cause i love both instruments
i personally like the sound of trumpets. and they are easier to play.
1.Saxophone for me whilst is harder it is cool, ask Lisa Simpson LOL BUT I would hire one first..
2.Most Music stores will direct you or yellow pages etc
3.Taking lessons will soon tell you which you prefer that 's why hiring one of each to see which one is best idea..Good Luck 鈾?
I am a sax player. I learned to play when I was 12. Trumpets leave blisters on your lips. Check out long time trumpet players lips, and you will see what I mean.
go for trumpet!

to get one, I would definitely rent at first from your local music store. And I would check out any local universities (USC, UCLA, etc) with large music departments. Many times college students or graduate students will offer lessons to middle school and high school students.

As for the answer above. I've played trumpet for 13 years and have never once had a blister on my lips.
