Hey can you please answer my question? about rent? |
Travel Info Ok where is a safe place in los angeles where the rent is cheap to moderate that is near casting calls and acting classes for me txxss Travel Tips Hi.. Burbank is a very safe city where lots of of the studios, etc. are. A lot of things are taped here, and there's a lot of actors that live here. The rent for 1 person in a studio or 2 bedroom should be about 1000 or less. I've seen many for 900. Also, it's not too far from things, so you should be able to get around pretty well. But do remember, you MUST have a reliable car if you live in LA. You literally can't survive without it, as there are no taxis that you can hail (and they're very expensive anyway), and public transportation sucks as well. A GPS would come in handy as well. :o) Good luck! :o) Oh PS, before you decide to move anywhere, look up the city's crime report online. Don't move anywhere like Van Nuys, and certain parts of LA and Hollywood. Others Ha ha ha ha...this is a joke, right? A trick question? L.A. is expensive. That's straight up! A dump of a studio will cost you over $1,000/mo. W/O you giving us a start point where acting classes and cast calls are, we can't make any recc's. I live in the So. Bay L.A. This is everywhere south of LAX (El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance, Redondo Beach, etc. to San Pedro.) and about 10 miles inland down to San Pedro. My advice, stay west of the 405. The closer you are to the ocean the safer. Of course the rent is a little to alot more expensive. (Bach/Singles from $1200 to $3000/luxury per mo. along the ocean cities) Go inland a few miles like Torrance, Carson, Gardena, Lomita and rent is more affordable. Check Craigslist. Most everyone I know in L.A. who is single and making under 50k lives with roommate(s). I live in Torrance, one of, if not the safest city in L.A. county, and have a roommate and my half of the rent (two bedroom w/trash and water covered) is $680/mo. My assigned parking is another $25/mo. and well worth it. The South Bay is relatively safe and you are always near the ocean. However, it is not close to Hollywood or any of that overrated nonsense where the rent is outrageous and the hood is not really safe. Get a roommate, take mass transit, and work where you live, not where you want to. Burbank is good. Everyone here's in "The Industry" or wants to be. However, there's no rent control, or any rental laws that I know of. Consider Hollywood or North Hollywood. Both are in the City of LA and have rent control. $1000 for a studio is realistic. Anything less and it will probably be a dump. North Hollywood or Studio City. Burbank would also be a good location for you pursuit. |
