What's a safe and good place to live in los angeles?

Travel Info
when I say los angeles do you automatically think the city of l.a or l.a county? L.A is huge! I want to move because I want to in the entertainment industry not a star...I want to work for a major film co., record label..etc..thing is the work is in the los angeles area..paramount for example...thats in l.a...is some parts of hollywood real nice? I heard its ghetto...and ppl just go there to work...same for me ...I just want to work there not live there
I live in the forth area of texas..and dallas is about 30 minutes away and I heard they have pretty bad crime...but then again I live 25 min or so away so nothing remote happens in my area...

Travel Tips
There are lots of nice places to live in the Greater Los Angeles area. To be near Paramount Studios, you would want to pick North or West of it. Both are safer than areas to the immediate East or South of Paramount Pictures. So, places like Burbank, Glendale, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and the West San Franando Valley (e.g. Canago Park, Northridge, Encino, Woodlands Hills, etc) all work well.

You can also pick places more remote, like out in Moorpark, or up in the Lancaster area. They are farther. But, Metrolink runs a line to downtown and Paramount Pictures runs a shuttle van to the Metrolink station.

Most all of Hollywood is ghetto. To find a nice neighborhood look for the names with "hills" on the end. EG - Hollywood "Hills" Woodland "Hills" etc. Glenwood is nice too.
East L.A.
A closit.Don`t come out or BANG!
The problem with Los Angeles is that you can't really generalize about neighborhoods. There are good and bad areas scattered all over. Although you can find some decent places in Hollywood, you may be better off looking in the San Fernando Valley which is just over the hills. Makes for a tough commute, but the prices may be better. Studio City is nice, but pricey. North Hollywood can be ok south of Burbank Boulevard.

That's just a sample. Good luck.
I think if you want a good compromise in price, excitement, and safety - most parts of West Los Angeles (near Brentwood, Westwood, Santa Monica) or Marina Del Rey/Playa Del Ray would be a good place. The parking is not easy, but no where in LA is parking easy. The rent is reasonable, access to freeways is easy, and there are a plethora of restaurants, bars, and small lounges for you to hang out in.

Cheaper areas (which are a little less safe): Culver City or Manchester Area (close to LAX airport)

More Expensive: Hancock Park, Brentwood, Westwood, Santa Monica (better places, higher prices, VERY safe)
40 miles north of LA is a new city called Santa Clarita. It's very low crime, very family oriented and many, many people that work in the entertainment industry live there. It's divided into 4 sections, Newhall (mostly Mexican, less expensive), Valencia (older, more expensive), Saugus, and Canyon Country (last 2 are your best bet for apts that are reasonable) Good luck!
