Yes - but not in a trend - humping - Paris - Hilton - socialite - aren't - we - fabulous sort of way. It's a chillin' - cool - vibe - lets - do - mushrooms - and - watch - the - moon - reflecting - on - the - ocean sort of scene - with a healthy dose of super-tanker margarita's mixed in.

But as someone else said - UC schools don't admit slackers (well -at least not dumb slackers). If you don't have a high 3.x GPA, and/or a SAT score in the top 2 or 3 percentile, don't waste your time. Just apply to San Diego State or ASU instead :-) Source(s): I was a wonk and went to UCI to study neurobiology -- but my friends all went to UCSB and I spent most weekends in Isla Vista (party central for UCSB)

Yes, they have been known to throw a good party! It is absolutely beautiful there too!
Yep. Party school. The tour guides try to play it down, but it always has been a party school!

Oh yeah. You'll need good grades to get in, and good SAT's. I guess they only let in smart partyers!
no its not. there are sometimes parties on the weekends but aren't all students throwing parties on weekends???? its all the same in the US students will have fun no matter what college there in.
