Tired of Los Angeles ~ Where should we live? |
Travel Info My husband and I have a 6 month old son and don't want to raise him in Los Angeles, where we now live. My family is all here, however, so I don't want to move too far away. We just want to find someplace (preferably within a 6 hour drive) that is family friendly with some culture and good schools (my husband is an elementary school teacher). San Fransisco is too crowded and expensive. Any other ideas??? Travel Tips If you love the ocean and don't want to be too far from the beach, check out the beach towns of Oceanside, San Luis Obispo, San Clemente, and Mission Viejo. All are lovely for young families. Between San Diego and San Clemente are several cities that are under the radar for insane house prices, like Carlsbad, Escondido, and Vista. Ventura is decent, as is Oxnard. Inland, if you like the mountains, Tehachapi is within 3 hours of L.A. and is much cooler than Bakersfield. Bakersfield is hotter than h-e-double hockey sticks but the house prices for new houses are much more reasonable than San Bernadino or Riverside. In the Central Valley, Kingsburg, Visalia, and Tulare have great house prices and farm kids tend to be some of the most decent kids I have met yet. Good teachers are needed everywhere, so it's only a matter of deciding where you want to be. Good Luck. Others bakersfield Live in Florida, sunny, bunch of history, and Disney World your child will love it. how are you tired of la... its the best place in the world...but if you want to move, go to new york city California is huge with thousands of family orientated communities. I lived in San Bernadino and Santa Cruz, both areas were nice. Austin, Texas doesn't meet your 6 hour drive criteria but I think that you would love it. how about phoenix arizona.......lots of culture. if you don't mind the heat. its dry heat........... |
