Where would you live if ur working in the downtown area of los angeles? |
Travel Info reason being the major film, record labels are in the downtown los angeles area? atleast paramount is places that are safe if ur gonna work in downtown...cause I plan to move to l.a to work in the entertainment industry not a star ...but work for a film co, record label, etc.....(maybe paramount pictures and thats in downtown? idk im not from cali)....but as far as where those businesses are located at ...where would be a good safe place to live? Is downtown los angeles like manhatten, ny? is downtown safe to live in? any part or not really Travel Tips First off, I can tell you haven't done your homework. NONE of the film or music industry is downtown. It's in Hollywood, the west side, and the valley. Parmount is the only studio in Hollywood. Sony is in Culver City. Universal is in Studio City. NBC, CBS, and ABC are all in Burbank now, although CBS still has studios at Beverly & Fairfax. Everyone looking for the "cheap, clean, and safe". It's all about supply and demand: If it's in SoCal, then it's not going to be cheap to begin with. If it's clean and safe, then it's more expensive. If you need good schools, add a couple hundred bucks a month on top of it. If you want to live here and enjoy the weather, then you have to pay for it. You put up with the smog and the traffic, enjoy the weather and pay your rent or mortgage. "LA" is such a big place, there are so many neighborhoods/cities where you can live. Of course, even within a city or neighborhood, there are safer sections and less-safe sections. In Los Angeles, some nice sections are West LA, Brentwood, Westwood, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Los Feliz, Silverlake, Eagle Rock, Encino, Tarzana, Studio City, Toluca Lake, Granada Hills, Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, West Hills, Chatsworth. To the east: South Pasadena, parts of Pasadena, Altadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Glendora, San Dimas, Laverne, Azusa, Rancho Cucamonga. Along the beach: Santa Monica, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Rancho PV. In Orange County aka "The OC": Seal Beach , Huntington Beach , Newport Beach , Corona Del Mar , Laguna Beach , Dana Point , Capistrano Beach , San Clemente , Brea, Yorba Linda, Orange, Tustin, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Rancho Santa Margarita, Lake Forest To the west: Agoura, Calabasas, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Moorpark. This is not an all-inclusive list, but it's a start. Others Don't live downtown. Live in a nice residential area, like in the San Gabriel valley or Hancock Park, and commute. no I would not live downtown Los angeles too much weird people there too crazy. if I were you working with flim I suggest living in burbank it is a nice cith and there is a airort that a lot soamller than LAX airport. I use burbank airport all the time. there even a amtrak station right at burbank airport all you have to do is walk across the street from that station to the airport. it really cool. it jsut an amtrak stop not really a station. Iused to take amtrak from burbank airport to santa barbara and back. I beieve rent in burbank are very reasonable as well as glendale. I think the cummute probably one hour or so or less than one hour I forgot the highway name though. if you ahve any question feel free to email me I be more than happy to answer any question you have bayareaman1972@yahoo.com There's nothing wrong with living downtown...but the film studios are not downtown. They are in Hollywood, Burbank, and Universal City. If you can afford it, there are some great areas in and around Hollywood (and some crappy areas too) - otherwise try Burbank, Glendale, Tujunga, Stuido City, or Sherman Oaks. I have worked in Downttown and I would live and have lived exactly where I live now Conejo Valley. But other popel live in Silverlake, Glendale, Studio City Hollywood Hills, Bev hills and Santa Monica. in a dumpster |
