what does one have to spend to get a safe decent place with good service that is not a flea bitten dive or hooker motel? Hoping for 3 star type or better?

Is Priceline the best way to go for this?

whenever i go to LA....i always go to The St.Regis Hotel....$2,000 dollars a nite....cheap...good service...

Hollywood Roosevelt hotel is very nice these days, they say.
I always recommend the Hollywood Celbrity Hotel. Great location, good service, and less pretentious and expensive than the Roosevelt. I believe it fits the bill for you.

You could go Priceline, but at this late time, you might have to use travelocity or Expedia.
