Thinking about moving out to Los Angeles..what are some dos and don'ts? |
Travel Info How hard is it to make the move out there? What are the demographics like and job market and overall culture? Travel Tips Los Angeles is multicultural. Here are some do's: have a good paying job, do your homework on where you want to live, be prepared for the fast pace. Don't move here thinking you're going to make it big in Hollywood, bring an outsider attitude and expect the natives to warm up to you, complain about the city and make noisy comparisons to where you came from. Others This place is Hugh and congested. there is something for everybody. South Central and the inner city are rough . But it is best to live close to where you work to avoid congestion. be prepared to pay dearly for housing and rent. Orange County and Los Angeles County are good for pay if you have a skill to bill hourly on, but the living expenses are more than say Washington or Oregon. We grew up all our lives in Orange County and decided to sell our condo and move to the Pacific Northwest for a higher quality of life. Stay away from downtown LA, reminds me of skid row (literally). Depending on where you live, it's hard to say. I wouldn't move directly into LA, because personally, I would rather perfer San Fernando Valley (in the area). LA doe's not have the nicest, safest neighborhoods, so move into an area right outside of it. One other tip, do not go down town! It is sooo roughed up and trashed down there. I would also agree to Orange County. Start off with a condo if you'd like that's the best you can start off with. Okay the city of L.A. is a enormous city. The pros of L.A. is that there is not alot of descrimination and the weather is the best of all California and maybe the USA. The bad objects of L.A. the traffic. I recommend you to move to Bervely Hills instead of L.A or if you want to live in L.A, moved to San Pedro a Beach Community. Good Luck and Welcome to Los Angeles. I lived in Compton; not Los Angeles. Do not move out here unless you already have a job. |
