Culture:
Madagascar is home to numerous tribes with distinct cultural practices. Of these, the music of the Tulear region is most well-known in the rest of the country.
Salegy is the best-known and most widely exported dance pop music of Madagascar. It is characterized by gently rippling guitar work, organ or keyboards and sometimes accordeon, and powerful vocal harmonies

Everyday life in Madagascar is regulated by numerous fady (taboos) which vary from one region to another. They can forbid foods (pork, lemur, turtle... ), wearing clothes of a particular color, bathing in a river or a lake. Observance of "Fady" is mostly limited to rural areas, as tourists will most likely not run into this problem if they stay in Antananarivo, Toamasina, Fianarantsoa, or other urban areas.
Fady are attributed to ancestors, to whom Malagasy owe a respectful worship whatever their religion. It is preferable to respect these forbiddings so as not to offend them.

Religion:
Approximately half of the country's population practices traditional religions, which tend to emphasize links between the living and the dead. The Merina in the highlands particularly tend to hold tightly to this practice.
About 45% of the Malagasy are Christian, divided almost evenly between Catholics and Protestants. Islam in Madagascar constitutes about 7-10% of the population.

Dress:
