Travel Info What was the best part for you? :) Travel Tips I have been there three times and the highlight is always the capital, Antananarivo, which I find a very exciting place. How can one choose from so much that is wonderful? There was Nosi-Be, so beautiful that I could hardly believe my eyes, Majunga, so Arab and yet so safe that people could walk about in the middle of the night with the takings from their bars and be safe; Antsirabe (which amazingly has gone up in the world since I first saw it), with its spa and its pousse-pousses; then Perinet in the east and Fort Dauphin and Tulear in the south and the wild and wonderful countryside between them, with its rich wildlife, especially the different kinds of lemur.... Then there are the people themselves, friendly and interesting, so musically gifted and with such an ancient culture. It's sad that the royal palaces in Antananarivo were destroyed by arsonists some years back: what a history they encompassed. |
