The story so far: I am taking my son and daughter diving at Tioman.?

Travel Info
1. We are travelling from Singapore to Mersing by Taxi.
2. Diving at Tioman in July and than travelling to KL possibly by taxi but still need to confirm how hard it will be at 11am on a week day.
3. Possibly two days in KL and then off to Melaka for possibly two days.

My question is can anyone tell me some activities to do in KL and Melaka. The towers are already on my list. My children are 19 and 23 years old.

Travel Tips
hi there :) i think mostly you can do in KL is to go shopping, but i personally think you can do much more in Melaka, i suggest you can go to Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (last time called Heeren st) to visit a lift style peranakan museum call baba museum, you can't miss it, it is very famous in Melaka, you can get to experience the details of Melaka lifes over time! Then, you can go to Nancy Kitchen which located between Jalan Hang Jebat (last time called Jonker st) and Heeren st to try out their traditional baba foods. Later on you can go to Jonker st for real nice antique shopping with reasonable price, and when the night fall jonker street will changeg into "pasar malam"- night market, you can find lots of finger foods, and real cheap stuffs which are real authentic for a meaningful souvenirs. Other than that, normally ppl will go for stadthuys and the centre city of Melaka for it's culture and some shopping as well. Hope you have a great trip! :)

Were you the Tim ??

I will try my very best to answer your question...

1. Have you managed to book a taxi? Alternatively, you can catch a bus from Beach Road that departs daily (6.30am) to Mersing. Arrival is about 11.30am. Frankly, I have not heard of taxi services direct from Singapore. Do check properly.

2. Month of July is where the sand-flies surface. Bring enough repellent. Is you really need a taxi, please talk to your agent who meets you at Mersing before you leaves for Tioman. They can help you arrange but please bear in mind that the charges is going to be high cos it is being charged as 2-way trip.

3. 2 days of each is always possible. Get into the Malaysia Tourist website and check the happenings, etc.

Hello Tim

You can drop me mails at mp_sesb@yahoo.com if you want
to...

Good for you. At least you know how to change your
profile...

About the taxi transfering you in Johor, i think i
know what you are referring to now. Want to take my
idea of getting onto a bus that leaves for Mersing
daily? The price for 1-way trip is about $20
(singapore dollar).

As for the taxi from Mersing to KL, sorry to give you
the wrong impression. What I was trying to tell you
was that you approach your agent (person who will meet
you at Mersing before your departure to Tioman). You
see, in Malaysia, when a driver drives you to another
state, they normally dun charge you 1-way. They will
take in consideration that should there be no one
going to Mersing after they drop you off at KL. The
charges can easily go up to RM500 (cos now i saw your
picture)....
Here are some list for you to do:
KL
1. Central Market (CM) - traditional stuff (use LRT from KLCC)
2. Petaling Street - bargain items (a walking distance from CM)
3. Bird's Park - in the middle of the city (very peaceful, use taxi)
4. Sungai Wang - shopping area. Just watch people go by while sipping 100+ (cause it's hot.Not very far from KLCC)
Melaka
1. Stadthuys
2. AFamosa
3. Jonker Walk
4. Asam Pedas Orang Kampung restaurant - quite near to Mahkota Parade. Go to this place If you want to try real Malaysian food (caution:spicy and very good). The owner is Dino.
errrr...why you keep looking up...is your roof leaking....
Well, you can dig for golds the digger. And also you can save your trip to Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam and Bangladesh cause you can meet them in KL. Cool hah?
try go genting highland:-www.genting.com.my it has a theme park and a casino. cooling temperature at 6000 ft above sea level. best part it is about 45 min from KL.
melaka you can visit the historical place and "chongker streets" at night, plenty of things to see there. the town its small you have no trouble find your way around
Hi Digger, most of them had told you which places you should visit hope you can find your way there...
If you're on your way to Genting Highland try to stop by at Batu Caves, Gombak not far away from KL.
The cave is for Indian ppl to perform their rituals and offerings during the Thaipusam festival on FEB. But it's open for any tourist to visit and to reach the top you have climb about 370+ steps which i don't think your 2 adult children have any problem but i'm not sure about you...

Oh yeah, by coming to KL you would save the $ and time to visit the other countries like what the Dead Man says :)

Sarah, i think ladies bathroom on the other side ;)
