Some malaysian is too sensitive and irresponsible? |
Travel Info First of all, this is a travel section and should be healthy but some malaysian is just too sensitive and irresponsible. i give a senario, some overseas or forgiener is not familliar with malaysia ask some times ask stupid question that might offend malaysia. those sensitive one will pandai-pandai screws the one who ask the question and indirectly offend our forgiener. this will leave bad image and impression on others about malaysia. i know sometimes we can fool around but this is to the person that we know well like Mr. Bean or The bear, they are quite sporting & dont mind if we screw them once a while for fun but not to those unknown asker. do you agree? how should we stop this? should we form our own comitte to prevent this?also they are many new member that are good a polite but some just some hot shots/cowboys running loose. what do you think?? Travel Tips Nobody likes or welcomes the net or part of it to be policed. It is better to have freedom of expression that we may or may not have in the real world. But we should all be as responsible while having some fun. If one asks stupid questions in other parts of Yahoo answers they will get very similar reactions and put downs. That in itself is a mechanism to deter silly questions. All of us are different and so are our opinions. We can all agree to disagree. That is life. Policing the net or yahoo answers is not a good idea and will never be practical. People will vote with their feet. Anderson, when irresponsible questions are asked I have no problems in giving a strong response. Questions like "should Malaysia ban pork" which was done to incite hatred and was not a genuine question about Malaysia or travel. Not everyone is as simple as that. This person had an agenda. For him no quarters are taken or given. There are also those pesky sex tourists....I do not believe in policing even them, but they will have to expect put downs not just here but in other sections of Yahoo answers too. Others Thanks for your support... Firstly, I am not a good moderator (I have my own Yahoo Groups and one of it is called 'The Lands of Paradise' and 'Mountkinabalu', where it was meant to promote and educate people on Malaysia and Thailand but I have left it idle with hundreds of members in there and some chat bots), so I can't say if we should moderate this place. You guys are invited to join if you like, maybe it will make it a more happening place once more. It was once a very lively place... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thelandsof... (The Lands of Paradise) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mountkinab... (Mount Kinabalu) Directly and indirectly if we do so then this will become another place like 'Alloexpat' (www.alloexpat.com) website where there are so much strict policies each and every members MUST comply or be barred/censored (the Malaysian way). Been there, done that and that's why I am moving on. I must say, it is a GREAT site to find out almost every information you need on traveling and expatriate life in Malaysia though. I think there should not be any usage of the word 'stupid' referring to any kinds of questions being posted. As Anderson had mentioned, there are newcomers and unknown askers that pops up every once in a while. How do you feel when someone is telling you that you're asking a stupid question or giving stupid answers? When anyone is giving an answer to a stupid question, that person is stupid enough to give a stupid answer too, would you agree? As for me, I honestly believe that everybody deserve to have their own say, even if it goes to the extent of criticizing me (what goes around comes around... I asked for it, right? LOLs what I mean to say is that, if its my weakness or faults that needs to be corrected, I would seriously consider it for my own well being)... I don't mind if you guys made fun out of me and whatsoever, but I cannot tolerate racist gestures as I have faced in real life already. Many of you don't know me for real and worse still, other users whom are being targeted/abused at. My idea is to continue being who we are and strive on to give the best out of what we can and not pretend to be who we are not. The more some people attempt to make me lose my friends, the more friends I make along the way. True friends don't discriminate and easily be swayed... AGREEEeeee...already give you a star there.. i'm new you know. May be we can suggest to yahoo to give us our own website so we can post those sensitive questions, then let us malaysian answer them. But with password for each evryone of us so no one else can acces but us. Would be embarrasing if foreigners read them.. Totally agree with anderson...again Many people are learned but not educated, not just Malaysians. We just need to exercise basic courtesies with a healthy sense of humour. Let me be the 1st to say sorry, if I happen to use the word 'stupid' (i think i did twice)... SORRY!! if I hurt you <!_!> ============================== My comments... When you are in here, it is a time when you have to keep an open mind and open heart. But of course there are some who are in here to 'kill'... If someone comes in here to find out more about travel and sees all these, i guess it is good for them. At least they are more aware about the happenings not related to travel. |
