Should Malaysia rent a space taxi?

Malaysia went thru an extensive selection process to identify a couple of astronauts that are destined for space by renting a space taxi. How can this benefit the country?
It seems stupid that the only experiment we can think of is to do a teh-tarik or roti chanai in space. Do we have any legitimate scientific experiment that is worth the taxi fare?

I agree with the other answerers. This is done for a strange reason that many of us ordinary Malaysians do not understand.

Recently several young UMNO supporters decided they should do a parachute jump in the North Pole. Quite what that does to show the world that we are now a modern, progressive nation stumps me but they did it and in the process spent yours and my tax money.

Now with this space thing we are 'investing' more taxpayers' money to see the effects of zero gravity on teh tarik. Very good. What is the next frontier now that we have conquered space and the north pole???

Maybe that should be the next Yahoo Question.....

You should be happy they didn't spend billions buying one. At the rate they are going..........
the way i see it, they only want glamor and publicity not practicality. we should think of way to be more practical.

I think every government deserves their right to do whatever they want with R&D on technology... even if it takes to do teh-tarik in space...

The only thing I object to is how they'd SCREEN and SELECT their candidates who are obviously of their own kind and species to spread their infectious spores through space.
Nope it won't bring any benefit to the country... just for their own namesake and glamor to show that non-Bummys can go to space too... (and I think they should return to their respective planets eventually, the dUMbNO planet)...

Before answering your question...... can you please tell me a project name which our government did it for the purpose of benefiting the country?

Look at how much Magnum is spending for our "proud" Alex Mau Yong for a sit at F1 driver sit.

Look at how much Petronas is spending at Sauber Petronas & now BMW Sauber.

It's just getting bigger & bigger for those decision maker to feel proud of themself. "Malaysia bodoh"
