Traveling with dogs in Malaysia?

Travel Info
Is rabies a widespread problem in Malaysia? Will the Malaysians authorities have have any problems with dog ownership despite them being vaccinated, etc.?

I have a reason to ask this and it is related to travel by the way... so kindly give me some advice on this as I need to forward this to a friend who is going on a travel with her favorite pet dog/puppy this June.

TheBear is not familiar with dog ownership laws in Malaysia.

Thanks!

I cant really understand your question, do you mean she will be bringing a puppy into Malaysia? or she will be traveling in Malaysia with her puppy?

Anyway here are a couple of links that might help you:

But, if it's a mad dog that keeps barking at a mountain then I'm afraid it will have to be put down.

Edit:

wow Mad Dog 16 accounts already?
why not make it a round figure of 20?
(By the way, Yahoo are aware of your activities and are monitoring you)

Edit:

Is this the 'Malaysia way' that thebear keeps talking about?

You are a coward, a cheat and a back stabber. Why don't you come out in the open and tell me what your problem is? (But of course you wont because you are a yellow belly coward)

You can bring your pets into Malaysia as long as you can show proper documentation. There aren't any rabies in Malaysia as it was wipe out a long time ago. Just like small pox and chicken pox. You would need show that you have proper kennel for your pet during transportation.

Having said that..... who is your owner?
I am a Malaysian.
i agree with others, as long as you can show evidence on the health of your dogs, thing will be fine

fyi dog ownership laws fall under jurisdiction of local government i.e. the city hall or town council issue the license. I'm not familiar too with the law. i don't have any pet too

as for cats, there's no cats ownership laws as far as i know

King Bean, that's hillarious your majesty :-)
Bear, you might know that there is a pet bias against dogs in this country largely for religious reasons.

Despite the well documented fact that stray cats are as liable to spread diseases and cause environmental damage as dogs, the authorities have taken it upon their blessed selves to discriminate against dogs.

About 2 years ago, the Shah Alam Municipal Council would not issue you a dog license if you did not have the written permission of your immediate neighbours. They have momentarily stepped down from this ridiculous idea but you will still need to muzzle your dog if you intend to bring it for walkies even if it's a just a tiny chihuahua.

So be aware that your friend may be bringing a dog into areas that may cause offence to some people. Stick to Ikano Shopping Centre where pets are actually welcome and people regularly bring their dogs.

Meanwhile, I will be continuing my water gun campaign against my neighbour's cats, yes plural, cats, who regularly raid my dustbin.
yes you can
got extra puppy can give it to me??
