Mobile Phone in Malyasia? |
Travel Info I need to purchase a new mobile phone when I get to Malaysia. Am I able to purchase a prepaid sim card that will able to phone Australia. What advice could you give me. Travel Tips Hey man! I can't tell you which mobile phone is 'the best' choice for you, its more of an individual choice... but here are some of the things you might want to consider on making international calls with the local network services: There are a few networks to choose from while you are in Malaysia. My personal advice would be Digi and Maxis (Hotlink?) -Digi gives good rates on making international calls (clear and direct, with little disruption and rates are reasonably 'cheap'). Their phone network availability is limited to urban areas. -Maxis gives competitive rates (they are directly competing with Digi on this) in making international calls. Their phone network availability is and more available nationwide compared to Digi. Digi had been offering low rate calls for several years as far as I can recall, and Maxis is only picking up on them more recently. Hope this helps and good luck! P.s.- Celcom is also GREAT but they'll burn a hole in your wallet... ***** iannish/lowlife 'living a life': The question refers to M-O-B-I-L-E P-H-O-N-E... and do you mean to say that "My country is spelt as M-A-L-A-Y-S-I-A"? Is it just me or is this just an isolated event? Use your head, if you have one, before answering questions. *Yes, I do have small eyes, I agree with you and I've read the question as carefully as I could. In fact, I'll cut and paste what he mentioned in the question in case if you have some disorders from losing brain cells in the cold -15c winters you have to go through. Digger asked "Am I able to purchase a prepaid sim card that will able to phone Australia. What advice could you give me" and I'm doing just that... at least I'm not dumb enough to call others dumb and stupid when I can't get away with their arguments... You're just one L-O-S-E-R, do you know what it is and can you read that? Or... maybe "Unless you are too stupid to read" **By the way, a faker and a coward is one who changes his name to get away from his critics. I wonder who this is... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... (What a disgrace to call yourself a Malaysian... you're the worse of the lots!) Others Hello,I am researching international calls at the moment too. If you are searching I suggest you type. Watch the spelling! call Australia from Malaysia There are many companies out there and it is easy to get lost.I have found one so far that seems to cover most regions. I was looking to phone Saudia Arabia from Philippines. The amount it costs is in Australia Dollars http://www.webstel.com/p/buy.php?curr=au... G'day mate, yes as far as I'm aware all the major networks (Celcom, Digi, Maxis etc) have 'International roaming' so you can make and receive calls from anywhere in the world. But the calls might be a little bit pricey, why dont you buy a international calling card thingy (I've forgotten what they are called, but most phone shops sell them) where international calls are charged at local rates? ----------------- Wow, my mad dog is barking at the mountain once again!!! My country is spell as M-A-L-A-Y-S-I-A. Sim cards to call Australia can be found everywhere. Why use a cell phone when you can Skype? Hotspots are everywhere in Malaysia. The last time I traveled there, it was easy to get on a broadband line and call home. I even had a conference call with my global team in a coffee shop in Penang. TheBear: I guess you are as blind as you are dumb. Read the question with your eyes open this time. Unless you are too stupid to read. I am a Malaysian. Yes you are able to purchase prepaid sim cards once you get to Malaysia. They are available at any phone shops or camera shops. Most of these prepaid sim cards come with a top-up value which you could call home or receive call after you have successfully registered your sim. The shops selling you the sim card will assist you with the registration. |
