Malaysia is loosing attraction? |
Travel Info I am refering to current issue like river & sea pollutions and cutting down trees. 10-20 years ago i remember then the river is cold and clean and lots of tree around, temperture is about 26-27 C and i still remember those days. but now the rivers and seas are dirty and you dont seems like going into the water anymore. do you agree? hence, malaysia is loosing the magic of attracting tourist in future. what do you think? Travel Tips i think malaysian better stop blaming who n who's fault and take action as soon as possible Others Growing pains I wouldnt get overly concerned about it they will straighten it out once the infastructure catches up with the growth. wut do i think? i think blame the ppl. n less homo sapien please. it's stifling already Malaysia is not only losing its attraction from lousy environmental issues (pollution and illegal logging is top of its agenda), it has a big attitude issue to solve too, amongst Malaysians and the way they treat foreigners and the way they live in that self-denial state which is so hypocritical. It is fast becoming an unfriendly nation with lots of hypocrites and full of racial sentiments. Then again, back to the 'magic' of attracting tourists, places like Langkawi, Redang, Perhentian, Tioman and the islands off the coast of Sabah sells by itself with little effort of promotional means by the government since they are listed as world class destinations in Malaysia. These places are well kept and I doubt there is much environmental issues unless if the government plans to commercialize these places... TheBear loves the environment. My friend just come back from Pulau Ledang 2 weeks ago. According to her, the coral is totally NON comparable to 2 years ago. They hardly see any life coral near the seaside. 2 years ago they can see life coral everywhere but no this trip. Tourism is a very competitive business around the world, and as far as I can tell travellers rarely check the political background of a desired destination thoroughly before they go there. They make decisions on the basis of what promotional material of the country is available. Unfortunately for Malaysia, a lot of official promotional material is outdated and/or suggests something much more beautiful than there is. Travellers feel cheated, talk about their experience to their friends, and this can damage more than anything else the overall image of a country. Oh, and a couple of countries sill consider Malaysia a 'risk' destination, in particular New Zeeland, with Sabah being a 'extreme risk' destination. But even that cannot prevent tourists from travelling. Open civil war, terrorist attacks and the like are more persuasive when you want to keep tourists at bay. Right now I do see more tourists coming to Malaysia but that means also that more are confronted with its ugly underbelly (environmental issues, corruption etc), more will talk about it and this can cause long term damage. The environmental issues and government politics could thus be called collateral damage. The initial trouble is the attitude of Malaysians towards foreigners, honest promotion, service, cleanliness - things that create a first impression on any traveller here! When those are not up to expectation, tourists start looking closer 鈥?and then away, to other destinations! |
