Holiday Jabs?

Travel Info
I'm going on holiday in September to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, could you tell me what jabs I will need for when I go.

Travel Tips
Answer is a clear NO. Come as you are.

This question has been asked several times and I believe a comprehensive answer is needed.

Only very outdated health manuals or medical people who have never been to Malaysia advises it . Some of these risks are so remote. Let's look at the jabs that you can have one by one and decide for yourself:

Tetanus is contracted through dirty cuts and scratches and causes a serious infection of the nervous system. Same risk as in Europe or US.

Typhoid and hepatitis A are spread through contaminated food and water. Typhoid causes septicaemia and hepatitis A causes liver inflammation and jaundice. Just stick to drinking bottled water and avoid cold foods. Same advise goes to any country in the world.

Tuberculosis is most commonly transmitted via droplet infection. This is rare in Malaysia. Remote risk. More likely to strike the lottery.

Diphtheria is also spread by droplet infection through close personal contact. Also rare in Malaysia. About the same level of risk as in Europe or US

Hepatitis B is spread through infected blood, contaminated needles and sexual intercourse, Just practise safe sex. Don't share your needles.

Rabies is spread through bites or licks on broken skin from an infected animal. Very rare in Malaysia. Source(s): Lived in Malaysia and UK most of my life

check with your GP/local nurse
none...i have been there a couple of times and have never had any innoculations
any country out of the EU you are going to need jabs for you best bet is to go and see your doctor as it depends on what country you visit please see him at least 2 weeks before you depart for Malaysia as you might get mild side effects but it will be nothing to worry about and each injection has a different price but please you must see him before you go better safe than sorry .and have a lovely holiday .
