What is your opinion on the "Visit Malaysia Year 2007" ? |
Travel Info Malaysia is celebrating its 50th Independence Day and also Visit Malaysia Year in an effort to increase the number of tourist visiting the country. What is your opinion on the campaign todate? Would there be anything that you feel can be improved? If there is, please state. Travel Tips i just came back from a movie and i saw that malaysia's merdeka ad!! haha.. anywy.. to improve, repair the roofs, clean the toilets/drains/rivers/seas, teach taxi drivers english build more public transport.. but S.V. please don;t eat the money ok? teach taxi drivers how to clean their taxi.. Source(s): S.V. is........ ^^ Other Travel Tips I feel that it is a big conspiracy for the government to win more votes and degrade opposition parties along the way. Let me give you an example. It was only recently that I've met a fellow Kelantanese friend of mine who is also a Muslim. He told me about how proud he is of the Kelantanese tourist attraction and so forth. He was right about how Singaporeans who took the train service all the way to Tumpat to visit the Thai villages nearby and especially paying pilgrimage to the Sleeping Buddha temple there (which happens to be one of the largest statues in Asia) you might want to read on this: http://www.virtualmalaysia.com/destinati... The Malaysian Tourism Board had spent millions on advertising this 'Visit Malaysia Year 07' thing and yet have left out many of the Kelantanese tourist attraction sites. This even includes other places such as Kedah and Perlis, with a high residency rate of local Thai community and historical sites. Another fact about why it has been left out is also due to political reasons. As foreigners visit these sites, income will flow in. Locals will enjoy more job opportunities and the local government will have a chance to develop their state further... but the central government does not what this to happen! Most of the tourist attraction sites are NOT the main reason for why tourists would want to come to Malaysia for. Some may argue that the Petronas Twin towers are proud symbols to represent Malaysia but fact is, it is a replica of the Angkor Wat and are designed by foreign architects and engineers. Talking about creativity and vision! People don't fly half way all around the world to see replicas of Angkor Wat above a shopping mall or pyramids above a shopping mall... nobody cares about how big or small their shopping malls are... or worse, getting cheated by lousy cab drivers and rude citizens... If there's anything that I feel can be improved, there are too many to list, but there's nothing to be said about it as no one cares to do anything since its Yahoo Answers. Visit Malaysia should be promoting the 'real stuff' that is worth people's time and effort, making it a memorable trip for everybody, even amongst Malaysians themselves... Its really a good idea bringing tourist here to Malaysia. before they lunch such campaign, they should really improve more infrastructure like toilets,sign board and upgrade/ repair current tourist places. Protecting environment like protecting corals, tress, rivers and animals is the biggest issue. if we can achieve this then i would say we are 70% on the track of tourism industry. VMY2007?! last 2 month ago..me n famly r going to smjg msia for VMY..but..OMG~~ we felt js as same as last2 year..then..we decided to have a trip to sgapore for a day or two..n its a wahlaa!! a heaven..sorry to say dis..but they do offers more..Learn sumthg here eh..we need to offers value to tourist money..so they feels more "welcome".. hermss..its js da same frm last2 last year((i said dis stuff twice oredy))..i think none efforts are done until nw..they spend billions for advertising n campaing..but..da result is js a waste and worst of dat; da money gv nuthg in return for da msia citizen emself.. eye of kuala lumpur??huhu.. man u visits??its a major fault.. we still do gt much tym left..use it wisely cz msia gt lots n tonz of potential..what a waste if we cant use it nw..now or never!! but im proud to be malaysian..yeaaa~~ XD hmm 2006 2007 2008 2009 i just visit for fun dont really need any sorts of promotion for me to come to malaysia oh except that i like the privilege shopping promotion at KLCC for foreigners. Load of discount.. no bad also The idea of Visit Malaysia Year is already passe. New Minister, new promotion, no continuity of pass ideas. VMY 2007, but no point if things are not ready, for example the National Musuem is closed for renovation. Clear proof that VMY 2007 is just a political mileage excercise. Minister in charge of tourism has also family business involved in tourism. So much for transperency and anti-neopotism. Not fair basing VMY 2007 success only based on statistics, which highest so called tourists are from neighbouring Singapore and Thailand. VMY 2007 should also be measured by the industries preparedness. |
