Travel Tips
Though KL won't be as exciting as Dubai, It is definitely much cheaper. 7.5k + Acc + Car, if its just you and hubby is fine. If you have kids, you might want to negotiate terms to include childrens education otherwise you might find yourself having to dig deep into your own pockets.

Cost of living in KL is low, most of my associates who had come over from Dubai are enjoying their stint here. dining out is cheap, climate is great, nothing much too complaint.

As for getting yourself a job, quite difficult for spouses to take up employment due to strict guidelines. You may be able to get a job only if it is a senior position. My advise is for you to send out your resume to a few of the job headhunters in KL now and see the prospects.

7500 what? and per what?
If RM7500/month plus accommodation and car.No problem.
KL is certainly cheaper than Dubai.
His employer is presumably obtaining a work permit for him? In which case he will be subject to Malaysian Income Tax. If no work permit, then problems will ensue. Also make sure you have some right of residence through dependancy.

The salary will be eroded if you have to keep making visa runs to Singapore and Thailand.

For you to get a job would depend on how interested your prospective employer would be in obtaining your services, as he too would need to go through the exhaustive and expensive work permit application process to employ you.

Basically your husband needs to ask the work permit/dependant's residency questions of the company, and make absolutely sure all is above board before accepting the position.
i don't think i'm the most qualified person to answer.like you,i just moved to kuala lumpur about a month ago.the rental here depends on where you're staying.if you want something more affordable, try wangsa maju.the rent there is among the cheapest in kl.besides that,it's near the city centre.the cost of living there is also comparatively cheaper.there is a train station there for convenience too.expext to spend rm1400 to rent an entire apartment there.the standard of living here is great.i've not been to dubai so i can't compare.but it's been great for me thus far.welcome to malaysia!
RM 1 = USD 3.80

therefore, your husband is earning RM7500 + accommodation + car = more than enough!

average petrol (based on a 1.3liter car) = RM 400
food ( @ RM20 a day ) = RM 600
toll (if the route passes thru any ; average RM 5 total per day) = RM 150
toiletries = RM 500 (above average products)
utilities = RM 500 (above average -that is, if the company doesn't pay the bills)

so far totaled : RM 2150
( still got LOTS to spare! )

well, in KL there are lots of good food at affordable prices
(mix rice : KL = RM 5 , Dubai = RM 20)
(McD : KL = RM8 , Dubai = RM 20 - value meal set)
and good local/foreign hypermarkets where you'll great prices, fantastic entertainment centers, and lots more . . .

it also depends on your lifestyle, but with RM7500, i'll tell my wife to quit her job and have more time with our son . . .

i hope that you'll fit in here in Malaysia cos a lot of expatriates are reluctant to leave as they have claimed Malaysia as their 2nd home . . .
(well, 2007 is our 50th anniversary so, GOOD TIMING!)

selamat datang!

p/s : yes, you can get a job here. we got an IT hub in cyberjaya called the Multimedia Super Corridor (our very own silicon valley *hint hint*)

p/p/s : income tax is applicable to incomes above RM2500

first RM 2500 = 0%
next RM2500 = 1%

example : if you are earning RM3000
RM 2500 = 0%
RM 500 = 1%

therefore you are paying 1% out of your RM500 for taxes each month . . .

hope this helps!!

ADDED 31/5/07 : thank you new_once for your opinion . . .
but still, RM7500 minus 28% = Rm5400 . . . and i'll STILL get my wife to stay home and do her freelance thing . . .

currently at RM1100 nett, so yeah well . . . you do the maths :P
cost of living in KL is a lot cheaper in KL than Dubai thats for sure.

A simple meal in dubai costs me RM100 but in KL a similar simple meal only cost me RM7.

A pair of shoes in Dubai of unknown brand could cost me RM250 but in KL similar shoes only cost me RM35.

With that pay + accomodation + car, u will be fine. Since accomodation is provided, u might as well go for nice service apartments.

Of course u will be subjected to tax but its not that much. I am sure u can look for a job here in KL to fill up your time..
it more than enough both both of you. nothing to work. most people here earn RM 2000++ and have to pay for their own acc+car.
Arez,
If u do not know pls don't simply put up ur comment.

For your information, 1 USD = 3.43 MYR as at today

base on RM7500 per month = RM90,000.00/annum
Income tax for 1st 70K = 7275 + 24% of 20K = RM12,075.00
That is the income tax for resident individual.

Income Tax for Non resident Individual = 28%
90000 x 28% = 25200
