Lina Joy case- hypocrite or liberal?

Travel Info
All because she renounced Islam and embraced Christianity because her boyfriend- in the name of love. Do you think it is wise and credible to convert religion just because you love someone?

Travel Tips
It was made known to the public by Lina Joy that since her birth, neither she nor her family members ever practiced islamic way of life. How true this fact is, i do not know.

The problem arose only when she wanted to change her religious status perhaps to enable her to marry the man she love, which had been denied by the NRD.

Hence the only chance she has is to challenge what was laid down in the constitution -freedom of religion. But little did she know that freedom of religion does not include a muslim native to renounce islam.

Allowing her to renounce/change her religious status would bring serious implications to the country's public interest and could actually resulting to bigger problems. There are many muslim girls in her shoes to date in fact. But by the time they aged they realized that it wasnt worth changing the person they were for a man who used to love them.

Another implication is that, if we bend the rule for someone who challenged the constitution once, we are then expected to bend the rules on other issues laid by the constitution as well. These will never end..

Decision made by the court was correct.

My dear Kathy..it is the best for you to post your sensitive Q in a related section such as the Religion and Sprituality section..enough is enough..we do not want to discuss anymore of POLITICS, RELIGIONS OR about RIGHTS, here in TRAVEL section..

your understanding is very much appreciated..thank you
love can make anyone do anything
whether is worth or not, i will still support her decision
I disagree with Myra. I believe its time to have Malaysians the right to voice out their opinion. Though there is a level a maturity that goes with this, but it is also our constitutional right to freedom of speech and religion. The syariah law does not overrule the court system. We do not embrace muslim law in this country.

So, voice your opinion and ask your questions.
Every Malaysian has the right to choose his religion. If Lina Joy renounces Islam & embraces Christianity, so be it. That's her choice & no court or anyone should take that away from her.
Has it been established that she changed her faith just for her bf?
Religion is a personal choice and no one can be forced to change anything against personal beliefs.
She is neither a hypocrite nor a liberal. As an adult she should have a right to pick her own religion and the way of life that best fits her. It is easy to demonise someone just because she is of a different fairth. To me she is doing it for herself and not to cause any controversy.
The controvery is due to the judge who thought that such matters should be handled by the shariah court instead of civil courts. The civil court should be the ultimate authority not the other way around.
Love is love, it has nothing to do with religion. both can stay to their own religion if she/he like their own religion.
asking him/her to give their own religion for the sake of love, then it is not love at all.
