Lina Joy- A hero for Democracy?

Travel Info
I really admire and respect Lina Joy, she is an example that many Malaysian should follow, and im not talking should follow by converting to another religion. I mean her decision to go up against all odds so that she can at least say that she will not be told what to feel. Even with the death threats and all i beleive she can truly call herself free. She is not scared of social bullying, she followed in what she truly believed in. She sacrificed nearly everything (except her heart) to put the unfair law of the Malaysian government between a rock and a hard place.

Everyone is saying that she wanted to be christian just because of her boyfriend and as if she is an irresponsible child. She has been going to church since 1990 or watever it was, the issue with her boyfriend was she wanted to legally marry him in her native country.

Some ignorant person said "why make a fuss, why not just run to another country and marry" lol is that how malaysians should think?should we have to flee..

As they say... Truth hurts, but that does not mean that we all have to flee from the Truth, right? That's the problem with people who over indulge themselves into self decietness...

While she had 'lost' her case to the biased and unjust law, she would have won the hearts of many. This is the point that she has been crowned as a champion and a true heroine indeed.

I can sense the strong hatred amongst Malaysian Muslims towards 'us' (who supports Lina's case) for posting issues on Lina Joy's case here, but this is something unevitable and they must learn to live with it. After all, they can choose not to answer in the first place if they are so offended by our questions and answers in here.

The law system in Malaysia is biased as usual, and for the sake of stupidity and is as filthy as ever, they would rather have thousands of so-called Muslims to live under the denial and oppression that they should be who they are under the LAW.

One comes to the point of questioning on the difference with the Malaysian government and the post Taleban government at the verdict of this case. Don't you see how the law system works here? Its just to protect the interest of the government and they are so afraid to allow her case to become a leading example for the following hundreds or even thousands of Malays who wish to file for conversion 'privilege'.

For those who are totally ignorant about this, kindly be informed that there is already a number of Malays who are Muslims on their MyKad in churches and other places of worship. Their number is small, but their community is BIG. Why don't the government just allow them to have their freedom of religious ideal as enshrined in the constitution? Do you think that the dumb, oppressive, deviated and arrogant JAIS could contain them? Add more reinforcements into their snoop squads for Khalwat cases because of their own 'Muslim' women sleeping with non-'Muslim' men (because they are rejected their rights to convert/marry the man they love/choose)?

On a personal note, Malaysian democracy is LONG dead... the present government is a semi-fascist, racist extremist oppressor. Which country in the world continually have (and approve) the same damn government for almost 50 years?! This is just second to Nazism and Fascism in the 'disguise' of democracy and secularism. Some say that it (Nazism and Fascism) is evil... but how different is the Malaysian government to their ideals and doctrines? What difference is the Ketuanan Melayu doctrine to that of Nazism and Fascist ideologies?

I think that the Malaysian politicians have been reading too much Mein Kampf to model their nation's future ---Nazism and Fascism in the Malaysian 'way'... Source(s): These people are too narrow minded and probably have been living in their own 'perfect' world for too long... too long to be in touch with reality. When will they ever realize that POLITICS and RELIGION don't mix?

They want to retain the number and figures of the Muslims for the sake of their votes, so that they can tell the non-Bummys that they still have 'majority' votes. Another government propaganda gone wrong!

but she lost... !!!

i mean, isnt a hero also a winner?!!
All she has to do is go to the Syariah Court and declare herself an apostate for the word Islam to be removed from her mykad. Maybe she has a lot of money and time to waste.
aint you lina joy?
I agree with you that Lina Joy is a fine example of a brave Malaysian.

She certainly has more guts than the UMNO members who parachuted onto the North Pole.

Yet, as you can see from the response in the press and in the blogosphere, it has divided our nation. On one side, the Muslims are incensed that one of their own would even dare to renounce what they feel is the only one true faith.

On the other side, non-Muslims are unhappy that once again Islam takes precedence over the Constitution.

All of us Malaysians should have known that the judiciary would not make a decision to challenge the status quo.

Lina Joy is an example of moral courage that few dare to aspire. In other countries, where Islam is a minority religion, there are adherents who also stand up for their faith in the face of what they deem persecution from their host country. Their own community there looks to those as their heroes.

At the end of the day, someone's hero, or heroine, could well be another person's villain.

If anything, at least Lina Joy's legacy will show that 50 years after independence, the fabric of our multi-racial society is still extremely fragile.
i cant agree more. she fight for her own right. even she lost but people still respect her than the government
