Travel Tips
I am a Brit now living in M'sia for a long time.

I have had a lot of family & friends come to visit. Some have also travelled around alone. The only one to have any problems was a female blond in her early 20's. This was even when she was with me & my family and especially in the east coast states of Kelantan & Terengganu, but not on the islands there as they are more used to tourists. It was not threatening, just unwanted and annoying attention in the form of crude attempts at chat-ups etc. The attention is because no locals are blond, so it is a novelty. Her female cousin who was also here at the same time has very dark hair & consequently had no trouble at all.

As others have said, beware of pickpockets in the cities. otherwise it is great. Read a few books, maybe Lonely planet (it is out of date for Malaysia, but still gives an idea) go to some backpacker hotels & talk to those who have already been here some time. English is widely spoken, especially in the cities & on the west coast but almost everywhere you can get by in English except the most extremely remote middle of nowhere places & even then they will find someone to help.

Enjoy your trip.

Good try! Either you pack up or get packed up. Good luck!
Yes, it is easy enough to meet people.
Beware of pickpockets and snatch thieves.
Other than that, the local people are friendly, especially so to foreigners....and more so, if you are ''white''.
Just my own insight, nothing more, nothing less.
Happy travelling.........
Sure it is ok to meet people. I don't understand your question. Do you think that we are savages and having a foreigner to talk to us will be an invitation to some murderous plot??
Hi there,

I'm running a resort in Malaysia and most of my guests through
the years are foreign tourist. It is Visit Malaysia Year now where few events has been scheduled, so do find out at our tourism board and it is easy to move around in Malaysia as the people are willing to give you a hand if you ask them.

So enjoy your time in Malaysia, you'll enjoy it!
Others have said it better than i could ever. Since its visit Malaysia year, Welcome to Malaysia! Should you need any assistance/information regarding locations in Sarawak or Kuala Lumpur, feel free to ask me, I'd be more than happy to help!
P.S Beware of pick pockets, thieves, robbers and cut throat merchants (especially at petaling street, kuala lumpur.), as you would face in any other country.
you can check with mr. bean (one of the regular over here). he is from london and currently in malaysia for vacation. he know a lot about malaysia and can give you his advised.
