After 20 plus year of protection, and support from the people. ( We pay high tax on the car, 100% for import car .....) Yet this company is still giving us low quality automobile. What do you think of this company?

Let it take over by others company? I think the countryman had suffer enough. We are paying the same price how ever, other get Toyota Vios but we get Proton Wira.

What do you think of government lowering the Automobile import tax? Is that possible?

The proton project is a one man idea to boost his image to his country men that if others can make cars so do Malaysia.

However, he has forgotten it is a business project and not a government run projects. Forcing his country men to buy sub-quality cars by making other imported cars expansive through import tax or other taxes will not work forever.

Just how many countries import proton cars, UK (one of the worst make cars by UK car magazine), Indonesia (through exchange of goods and forced entry), Singapore (after suffer from the very first two models, few takers despite cheap offer, but how to fight with quality cars from Korea and Thailand, price cannot fight with the three China brands). The writing is already on the wall many many years back.

Sell off the whole company, the government should not be afraid of 'lost face', if it is unprofitable why still hold on - wasting tax payer money. Malaysia can ever ever become this region leading car manufacturer base. Thailand is well established and China is fast become a leading car exporter.

Malaysia must lower the import tax for foreign cars, this is part of a regional agreement, but is paying delay tactic, all because it want to continue protect proton.

Proton is a big business but not profitable yet costly for Malaysia/ns to maintain.

Proton car itself needs to be more dynamic in Research & Development and Marketing i.e in style, quality and price to compete with the Japanese automobile industry.

How can Proton compete when they run it like a govt dept? Selection of vendors is based on race and vendors need to be bumiputera as a criteria. Not surprisingly they do not make money despite years of protectionism by the Govt.

Stop the bleeding and sell this racist Company off.

Proton do not have the expertise yet alone capable R&D to remain competitive in world automotive. It is real sad that after so many years of protection, the company still can't produce a world class vehicle.

Automobile company changes their car design every 2 to 3 years, but look at what proton has - Wira for more than 10 years. The good news is that the prive is still lower than foreign cars or else there are going broke anytime.

Perhaps Proton just need to let foreign company take control of them rather to let car price to be competitive. The tax just need to be abolished or we can't go forward let alone compete with others.
