Real and Plausible Terror Threat in Malaysia? |
Travel Info Visitors should heed your country's travel advisory. There is real and plausible terror threat in Malaysia at this time. Travel Tips Its the things that I've been trying to tell Malaysians and foreigners alike... but they won't accept it (and never will until its too late and its when reality gives them a tight slap on the face). Honestly, I don't think of any other 'threats' other than the government and pro-government people themselves and the endless rounds of corruption and scandals. They are the real terrorists, they are the real hypocrites. People get killed everyday and polices are paid to 'clean' their stains (latest well-known case involves the Mongolian citizen, Altantuya Sharibuu). How do you think criminals are getting arrested? Many innocent ones are framed to replace the villains and lawmakers turning racist. On the other hand, Malaysians are also one of the biggest contributors to the Southern Thailand and Southern Philippines violence and is internationally 'renowned' for being the mastermind behind several terror networks by providing expertises and talents in the name of 'religion' (in the case of Noordin Mat Top and others). Obviously Malaysians wouldn't know this unless they've been out of the country for some time as the news in Malaysia lacks freedom of information and is centrally monitored in order to give priority to highlight certain individual 'needs'. ***** To add to this, Malaysia is also under the threat of widespread bird flu if they are still too arrogant to admit that this is a problem (which many still don't even bother or care!)... Most latest alert is also on cases on child kidnapping/abduction and human smuggling. I am totally not surprised by the warnings and advisory level given by several ministries of trade and foreign affairs around the world... Its about time Malaysians wake up to the world. ***** Dave, just drop it. Its pointless picking on anyone here or arguing with them. You and I know the 'Malaysian way'. Let's make another post when the next catastrophe hit Malaysia and see how they tell us how 'threat free' and a 'peaceful' their country is. Or perhaps... they'll just tell us its an 'isolated' event... LMAO!!! Source(s): The link provided by the previous user above is by the Australian government with regards to their interest. This following link is by the United States government: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw... This is from the government of the United Kingdom: http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/front?page... There are numerous sites posting similar travel warnings and advisory, which involves caution on possible terror threats and security issues (including racial violence). ALL advisory comes with a recommendation for visitors to be INSURED before traveling to Malaysia. Other Travel Tips The travel advisory for all of Malaysia is at "exercise caution (level 2 of 5)." The recommendation to "reconsider your need to travel (level 4 of 5)" is for the east coast of Sabah only. http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/zw-cgi/v... Nah, bigger threat here in Canada.....that is why i'm comin home today. I think you're referring to the Malacca Straits rather than mainland Malaysia, although some of you may say that's close enough. http://asia.news.yahoo.com/070612/3/3395... Real and plausible terror threats apply to almost every country in the world these days. In Malaysia's case I would rate this lower than in US, Europe, Australia or Canada. Comparing against neighbouring countries, Malaysia is a much lower risk than Thailand, Indonesia and even Singapore. Travel advisory given out by countries that invaded Iraq is understandable considering the carnage they have caused there and the fear of retributions. But generally security in Malaysia is well controlled. |
