Has anyone been to Brunei for a holiday before? |
Travel Info Has anyone been to Brunei's for a holiday? Its strange because I've never heard people say that like: "Hey, I went to Brunei for a holiday!" before. If yes, what can you do there? Do they have attractive places like the beaches or highlands that people usually go to? My mum said they didn't need to advertise about their country because they are rich enough and don't need much help from others. I didn't mean this in a wrong way, please don't get confused! For those for don't know where it is, it's a small but rich country just in the middle of Sarawak and Sabah, Malaysia. Travel Tips Brunei is fun if you got brunei friends or someone to bring you around. There are no night life scene here, no alcohol, no clubs/bar. but if u really need alcohol u can bring in 12 cans of beer and 2 litres of liqour i think. provided u are non muslim and over 17 (don't ask me why, i don't know why either) as stated on the orange form. or just drive 45 minutes to the border. the beaches are virtually untouch, its like your very own private beach. some beach are packed with people and cars on weekends. the public transport is next to hopeless. its better to rent a car and drive around yourself. the petrol is dirt cheap too 53 brunei cents a litre unleaded 97 and 33 cents for diesel. there are tours that bring you into the rainforest and walk among the trees. the mosques, museum and galleries. but you can do it yourself. there are usually someone at the location that will show you around. yeah by all mean go before july 15, thats when brunei lights up with extravagant arches, floats, night market, concerts, food and activities to mark the sultan's birthday. there are alot of things to do in brunei imo. if not, how are we bruneian pass the days. hahaha. Others I was working at Brunei!! Well, there wasn't much to see at Brunei. However you should check Empire Hotel!! It is one of the best hotel in the world. Second is The Mall it is the biggest mall at Brunei. ( Not as big as KL Shopping mall) Take care!! there's not a lot to do there due to their strict islamic laws. it's a relaxing place to be, there are lot's of sandy beaches to go to and the forest reserves are breathtaking...oh! and recently they celebrated this huge wedding event. it gathered up a lot of locals and tourists which was pretty nice. if you do come to brunei, i suggest anytime close to the 15th of july, it has always been a big event in the country, they're gonna celebrate the sultan's birthday. i was there for a one-day transit before going to Jeddah. and went around during the day. i dont remember any of their tourist attraction, but you can visit their museums, mosques and royal residence. you can see that their royalties are very generous in almost evrything. while the people there are slowly-paced in life and work, they can afford two cars each person averagely. you should try their food and go shopping there... They have Jerudung Park that comes with rides etc. The last time i went to Brunei was few years ago, the park was empty. All the rides wasted and unused. Bruneians are nice, Brunei is beautiful..but theres no entertainment there..the only entertainment available is a ferry ride away in Miri. In 1994: The royals said that no form of entertainment is allowed in brunei coz its sinful. Not long after, they invited Michael Jackson to perform for their private party. The local public gathered outside the palace premise, just to hear Michael's voice. Imagine.. hehhe.. i living in miri which near to brunei. just needs to take 45mins to seria and one hour and half again to brunei city by car. erm..i dont think that got special things and have funs since the Jerudong Park is closed.[but will open soon.under-repair now] yea..Empire Hotel is nice.6 / 7 stars hotel!! if you got nothing to buy or what..will be bored. we always go over there to buy eletronic stuffs. is cheaper then malaysia. enjoys foods..a lot of special foods Been there. The boat trip on the river was fab. Empire hotel is overpriced and not that fancy. But the REAL things to see....well, err......you need to get connected to the Sultan....Looking at the gold plated taps in bathroom no 5993 would already do me a half hour I think.... |
