Can East Malaysia vote for independence? Thanks.? |
Travel Info Can East Malaysia vote for independence? Thanks.? Travel Tips thanks for asking this question. I would also like to know in detail how Sabah could go about applying for a independance referendum. (can only talk about Sabah/ don't know much about Sarawak) off the top of my head a few things would have to happen, one of them is slowly rising. That is the idea and realisation of young Sabahans of our real history, and a growing sense of cultural identity. Sabah is not a state to the people of Sabah. Sabah is a country. It seems normal in Sabah to think 'I'm a Sabahan first, Malaysian second". And why wouldn't we?? considering that Malaysia takes 95% of our recource revenue, openly admits that granted citizenship to tens of thousands of illegal muslim Filipino and muslim Indonesians in trade of votes in both the 1963 referendum and following elections to put UMNO in power. We have the 2nd highest population in the country and are one of the richest in terms of recource except we have the highest poverty rate. And everyone in Sabah knows or has heard of the mass conversions to islam under the threats of economic poverty under the rule of the Dictator Mustapha who assasinated many pro independance politicians. I would say we need some sort of international support, similar to the support East Timor had. Australia,America, European countries etc. Because we all know that if Sabah were ever to gain independance it would be hard at first. But in any revolution there is to be a window of hardship. It would be all worth it for your children to be able to say they are a Sabahan by nationality. Sabah or North Borneo representing themselves at national events. All of it. Do you think East Timorese people enjoy being poor? (not saying Sabah will turn out anything like East Timor is right now) Well im pretty sure they don't but they still voted against Indonesia, because they are proud of being East Timorese. If Sabah is as developed as it is now even though 95% of its recource revenue goes to West Malaysia, don't you think it can survive on 100% of it recources and recource revenue being pumped into the Sabah economy? Others Lol....East and West Malaysia already gained their independance lah along time ago...or were you asking that the East Malaysia wants to be independant from the Malaysia itself?? i dont know about that..but maybe you guys either be losing an opportunity to be more develop in future or you gonna be stuck like that forever.. no offense.. you can't. our constitution won't allow that. so need some amendments to the constitution first before you can vote. amendments need politicians. politicians need people's support. first step is to create awareness among people. but at this stage i think you'll be under ISA already possible, but very very very difficult Its going to be a big waste of time... but a great move though. Malaysia can't even handle their 14 states or abide by the constitution. People need their powers back! technically yes u can..if n only if u gt all da power n ryt to remain n vote as independent country frm msia..but..its kind of a waste for nw.. XD No, they can't. The Penang ers are talking about the same thing for a long time too, but see until now they still in Malaysia. bullschit!!! |
