Another bombing near our neighbouring country? |
Travel Info What had happen.. why this things keep going on.? aren't the thai government do something about? what is thai's own ppl do bout it? Or they (thai's) just prefer to fled from their hometown rather than sort the problem out.. Travel Tips Here we go again... Well, I am lazy to type anything here, so I'm gonna just paste my previous answer to your question: First and foremost, Malaysians should understand the nature of the bombings as PURELY political (with a dash of racism as insurgents claim that they do not wish to associate/live amongst non-Muslims and majority Thais, etc.) and has totally nothing to do with religious intolerance (as claimed by some quarters). Believe me, deep south, Muslims and Buddhists live side by side to build their community together (when southerners meet in other provinces, they will start to form a closely knit community and do their best to help each other out as much as they can, just like the northerners do). Muslims are also given their due privileges/rights to practice Islam and village heads take on their roles for nation building programs (most of them who are Muslims). This is a place where local Muslims associate themselves with Buddhists and vice versa, learning from one another about religious teachings and values. Local Buddhists are also known to visit local 'Tok Imams' or 'Tok Gurus' for personal advices ranging from personal to spiritual problems at times, when a Buddhist monk is not available for consultation. This is very similar to the culture back in the northern states of Malaysia such as Kelantan and Kedah. Thai Muslims (including Thai Malays) love their royal highnesses the King, Queen and their respective family members along with the local Buddhists and this is no doubt when family members of the royal household visits them, they are being fanned wherever they are. To them, they still look up to his royal highness as the patron father of the nation and these people will never condone such violence if they were to consider themselves real Thais be they Buddhists or Muslims (both religions condemn the acts of terrorism and unnecessary violence). As some users had mentioned in their posts, leave it to the Thais to solve their own issues (but with the dumb and stupid political scene back there, I doubt anything could be done right now). Democracy is a whole different twist for the Thais back home and foreigners will never understand it. Till today, the September 19th coup was deemed negative in the foreigner's eyes but it is something that other governments could/should learn from if they have any fascist/ racist/ discriminatory/ selfish ambitions. We never know when another country would face such political turmoil and if it would have been as peaceful as the recent one the Thais had staged. Where in the world will you find civilians parading with flowers, garlands and providing the hungry, tired soldiers with food and comfort? This is truly an act of people's power and unity ---The Thai way. Back to the question, in a personal opinion and knowledge that I have gathered, the real cause of the Southern Thai violence is sparked by anti-governmental propagandas led by several armed/terrorist networks operating in the heart of the southern provinces. Among the most influential is the PULO, BRN and GMIP, which are (highly) influenced by international terrorist networks such as Al-Qaeda and Jemaah Islamiyah, as some of them had undergone training in Al-Qaeda cells throughout the Middle East and Pakistan. Some groups had also linked themselves up with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front of Philippines and Gerakan Acheh Merdeka of Indonesia, where they receive reinforcements and possible supply of weaponry and other necessities. Most recent news and sources had revealed that the Southern Thai provinces might have been transformed into a training ground for Al-Qaeda fighters in Southeast Asia, after the Southern Philippines. Recent discovery of Al-Qaeda training materials exposes the possibility of influence in the current style of execution practiced by insurgents such as beheading of victims. These groups are also responsible for using drugs, deviated the teachings and tenets of Islam to uneducated youths into believing their roles as 'Mujaheeds' and they are living in a 'holy war' with the Buddhists/government. Thus, creating a rumor about clashes between Buddhists and Muslims. Many of them had been brainwashed by their leaders and paid for a certain fee for their jobs done as they also receive special trainings along the way along with their stash of illicit drugs, which keeps them going. Many of them are also related to some Malaysians living along the border where they receive 'sympathy' fundings and aid by the Malaysian government to cover their 'losses' ---and just make a wild guess where did the money went to? I think Malaysians should NOT help them at any other ways with regards to the southern Thai insurgency. Rather, they should be more cooperative with the Thai government in solving those cases by handing over suspects instead of being a safe haven for them. There are many rebel leaders operating from the Malaysian side to avoid being detected and traced by the Thai authorities. Another problem is also due to personal connection among its people in both Malaysian and Thai side, where some of the rebel leaders have close bonds/personal relationship as friends and due to the closely knit society, they wouldn't want to turn a friend over despite having full evidence and information needed. ***** Michael F: Well said! Source(s): Thailand's dumb and greedy politicians who got nothing else to do than sucking the money and lives of their own people and selling their national assets to foreigners. Sometimes I wonder if there's really no one else better to become the next Prime Minister of Thailand? Should they hold a reality TV show on 'The next Top Minister' or 'Thailand Political Idol' to decide on their best candidate? Sounds like a bad idea... but that's just Amazing Thailand... or 'Unseen Thailand'. Other Travel Tips Lived in Britain with the IRA kicking off.Now live in Spain with ETA just get on with your life and take care Don't have one some of them fled to a so-called 'problematic' country namely malaysia. i just don't understand....ungrateful maybe? let's pray so that peace will be restored in thailand and they can go home for good ASAP. yes ,soonest possible. just can't wait... ;-) home all who suffers rest in peace. but i curse the ones who fled country because of this.
